Where have you heard that Skal will be back?

Last I heard was that around the ASB they would 're-evaluate' him. Nothing about him actually returning to action then.

He was injured his first year here and missed the playoffs. The only playoff games he played was the New Orleans series we got swept.

Definitely concerned that he can ever play a full season and playoffs. That's one of the reasons I dont think we should ignore the chance to resign Whiteside.

The same damn argument I heard of Oden.... bones heal stronger... not an indicator of future injuries... ignore all the smoke over here.

Hope I'm wrong... but if I'm Neil I'd plan for Nurk to never be healthy... then if he ever is great, that's a bonus.

Great post... All these stupid trade Whiteside at any cost, need to tank crowd make it sound as if we could get a starter for Whiteside or a lottery pick.

He probably would get a middle or end of the second round pick... in that case just keep the damn starting center. Heck I'd even consider resigning him in the summer if the price is right.

You can't trust him to stay healthy.

We'd be the favorites to get the 8th seed without Whiteside. We have 3 natural Cs when healthy, we dont need 4.

Severly limiting our options to ever be a contender just to get the 8 seed this year which we'd probably get no matter what would be an extreme lack of judgement by the front office.

Need to tank crowd? Get a starter? Get a lottery pick?

You should really pay more attention. You apparently have no idea why were saying we need to trade Whiteside.

Maybe he gets a setback, but if he doesnt Id expect him back around the allstar break.

But screw getting a forward, lets have 4 centers since theyre always hurt!...

Keeping Whiteside doesn't mean the team severely limited options to ever be a contender. Maybe it means there are no good offers for Whiteside. Maybe it means he has more value on the roster than what the team can get in return.

Now if we can get a good draft pick or possible long term starter for Whiteside directly or indirectly sure I'd like us to pull the trigger. I am skeptical any of those options or your many trade ideas will be available.

You had opinions of trading for Blake Griffin being a key way to build a contending team many times in the last 10 months. Your analysis was flawed then. Part of your flawed analysis was overlooking the severity of Blake's injuries, as you are doing with Nurk.

How are they matching salary for a star around draft time? What about free agency? Next year?

You're thinking of things being A to B, and that we should trade Whiteside for immediate value or keep him, without considering getting back pieces that make it easier to add value in the future. Its not an A to B process here.

I admitted Blake was risky, so how was I wrong? I literally broke down how many games he played, averaged over the previous years, and so forth. Had Blake been healthy and we had traded for him, wed have been a contender. That was my entire point, it wasnt flawed or wrong.

Its been reported that Nurk will return without a minute-limit and will be 100% when hes back on the court. I dont think he'll miss 8 weeks with a calf strain.

You sound like you dont want to talk about what I'm trying to have conversation about though, and instead are making this more about by tehashing random things from the past. Misdirection, I guess.

What you need to learn to accept is that not every one does or will agree with your ideas and that others might prefer a different process. At some point it might be better to just move on from a big contract rather than keep trying to roll over one expiring for another expiring for little benefit. hoopsjock example of acquiring Batum and a 2nd round pick or two just to have another expiring for next year and start the process all over again isn't a good deal in my book.

They might be going off the CBS injury report which says he will be out till at least Feb 6th. Of course those sometimes get updated as it gets closer and the return date could get pushed back. Hopefully no set backs occur and that he can start playing again after the all star break.

Nurk's injury history is why you have Zach. No need for another center taking up much more of the cap. Spend that $ and spread the minutes to a forward.

    could still be compensatory.

as blazer fans, we know all about lower body injuries. the human body is all connected, and you cant take things in a vacuum. they need to be careful bringing him back
