My gf saw me browsing the board and said she wanted to try and reply. Doesn't know shit about the Blazers and can't really speak english though lol But thumbs up for your kind answer
It's far from stupid saying Nurk has a great contract and therefore is possibly a movable piece if necessary. You even said yourself it's one of the best contracts in the league. If Whiteside were to get 10-15mil for his next contract. That gives Portland 3 contracts that are excellent and easily movable. What is stupid is having this conversation because there is no denying that while I highly doubt he'd get traded. Nurk is a valuable piece and on a great contract. Just like it would be stupid if I were to have left Nurk off my original post... Someone would've inevitably came in and said ''Nurk's making 15mil per. He's not movable?'' But I should just stop responding because I've interacted with you enough to know that all of what I'm typing will fall on deaf ears.
The Ariza deal got us a player that fit better and kicked the can down the road with expirings for next year while helping reduce the tax burden this year. Here's a similar idea, with Whiteside. Brooklyn's pick via ATL and HOU's pick would go to Minny as is rumored. We'd save about 6.1 mil off our box for tax purposes and inch ever so close to getting out completely (only like 200k over). Parker has a 6.5 mil PO for next year.
And all I pointed out was that Nurk isn’t getting moved and any discussion about it is pointless. Even led off the convo saying I’m not having a go. But that somehow got turned into me being upset? But I’m the deaf one.
why would Portland do that? They get worse this season; then they add 22M in salary next season for role players, making it difficult to stay under the tax line This 'kick-the-expiring contract-can-down-road' is speculative value, at best, and is very likely to end up just where it is right now: with no good options for upgrades next season. I generally reject the theory behind it, and even if the theory held some credibility, the Blazers don't have the type of GM that would take the kind of risks it would require.
yes, he gave up two picks to halve the tax bill and get a better fit, and an upgrade over Bazemore neither Dieng or Parker have non-guaranteed contracts next season, eliminating an option they have with Ariza, and neither of them are anywhere close to as good as Whiteside. It's a downgrade and if Portland needs another trade-able contract next season, then re-sign Whiteside, probably at half the cost, or less, of Dieng and Parker
We're seeing Parker as an asset? Doesn't really feel like a great fit here. But I guess he could replace Melo next year.
Why are you assuming Parker won't just bounce? His option is only for 6.5 mil. You really think we can re-sign Hassan for 11 mil/yr?
He also got a worthwhile project in Gabriel. If he turns into a rotational player he’d have added two upgrades and cut the bill in half. That’s not worth two seconds five years from now? Where’s the failure?
