We have his bird rights and can resign him he he agrees. The C market is going to be weak, so he might not get the contract he expects
That's an interesting point. I think it was Woj I saw tweeting that all the cap room that appeared to be available around the league this offseason dried up pretty quickly with the trades. IIRC, he tweeted the Hawks went from a ton of cap space to now basically just having a mid-level exception or something. I would put the odds of Hassan being back well under 50 percent, but if he's happy here and the market can't give him much more, who knows?
If all they cared about were tax savings they would’ve done more than just dump Skal. They got rid of an injured guy that wasn’t going to be in the rotation, and opened up a roster spot for someone that could be. See? Anyone can play these hypotheticals.
well, nobody knows for sure, but reducing the tax might mean they would be willing to spend money in the buyout market as opposed to still having the same payroll and adding more to it in the buyout market. We also don't know what Skal's availability is the rest of the year and even if he comes back would he play once Nurkic and Collins are in the rotation. Lots of variables to consider. Nice thing about the buyout market is that they are usually vet min contracts and only for the rest of the season
What the fuck is that move about. Couldn't we trade Swanigan instead and cut even more money ? Skal with a shot knee can probably play better anyways. And even if we needed a second to offload biggie instead, Skal is still more valuable than a 2nd. Piss off Neil. Piss off Jody
Well, to be fair, Swanigan has been more productive for the team than Skal has over the last half dozen games or so.
Orlando never got a 2nd rounder for Harkless or Napier, even though one was in the trade. Top-55 protections will do that
I like how 1080 the fan said we traded swanigan for Skal, then acquired Swanigan, then traded Skal for nothing. So we effectively traded swanigan for swanigan.
