Fact is that call sucked and the refs sucked most of the game but they lost cause they were out of bodies, NO didnt bring anyone and in the 2nd quarter they squandered their oppurtunity to bust it open with Carmelo and CJ iso’s that provided jack squat on offense but Dame and Co can complain about the officiating cause its an easier target. I am not even the least bit upset about that lack of a call. I dont want to hear about their playoff race and how important these games are when a good part of the season their effort on defense was terrible, their GM just said he’s not going to bring them help, they have not just a loss or two to bad teams but a plethora of bad losses. Their inability to make the playoffs will be on injuries, roster and coaching not the refs.
Sorry but this is your second post on this exact same take and it's pure bullshit. Just because we screwed up games earlier in the season doesn't mean we shouldn't be given a fair chance to battle back. By that logic you should just throw teams out of the league if you don't think they're trying hard enough. As far as Olshey goes, he did go out and get us help in Trevor Ariza who has made our defense much better than Bazemore did. Oh and as far as that call goes, it was one of the worst misses I've ever seen from an entire team of refs. That ball came off the back board so early that as Stotts said, it was inexcusable. I also find every point in your post inexcusable.
Every bad call is called one of the worst ever. Keep crying about the refs, they played horrible in the 2nd when Dame was resting, is that inexcusable. Lol. Fair chance to battle back, there crappy calls and non calls that happen for both teams in almost every game. So funny how much people are upset over this. As far as NO goes he knows they have no bodies right now even said that sometimes they dont have the guys to do 5 on 5, and made a trade that didnt bring back anyone and on top of that said they wont use the roster spot. Think the Blazers and Dame should complain about the crap on the roster but the refs are easier to whine about. While Melo is building houses with all those bricks.
It's been a tough year with all the injuries and so much is up in the air with regard's to ownership. Still not convinced a sale isn't on the horizon either? Im glad i'm not a Timberwolf fan, and the fans in this city couldn't handle supporting a team like them, with their laggard performance for many years even with high picks and blockbuster trades. That complete coaching staff must really suck! lol what is it 13 loses in row?
I wonder what would have happened if Rick did let him go? Maybe we'll get a freestyle dis at the All-Star show. #disrespectful
The more I think about the more I bet there is some sort of potential sale being considered now. The effort to cut salary and for Neil to make that statement about not replacing Skal or filling a spot signals to me there is a deal being seriously considered. Just a wild ass guess along with my superb intuition.
I see where you're coming from TBF, but the poor performance in your opinion, of the GM was overcome by the players last night. They truly were "robbed" last night and honestly I never blame officials. As the season continues, you may very well be proven right that Neil didn't do us any favors by adding some help, but what I saw last night has convinced me that Olshey trusts the heart and soul of these players. Last night, he should have been proven right.
I get that the call was bad and the refs were crap in general last night. However all the hyperbole about that as the worst call ever and Dame talking about their playoff race and all that thats where Im not on board. Watch the NBA very often and the officiating is always bad, and this team has had plenty of opportunities to make things easier on themselves. They played great and probably should've won especially with the circumstances but Im not buying its even close to amongst the worst ever or that if they are a game out of the playoffs its because of the refs.
Out of the ruins Out from the wreckage Can't make the same mistake this time We are the Blazers The last generation (the last generation) We are the ones they left behind And I wonder when they are ever gonna change it Living under the fear 'til nothing else remains We don't want to hear no punk ass shit We don't need to know the way home All we want is the game called consistently...
Nobody says anything about the rest of the NON-CALLS. The Blazers hacked the hell out of Gobert on several occasions and NO CALL. If this game was lost over 1 no-call I'll eat my man panties. And Lillard needs to step up and end the crying. He will never be an MVP acting like he is right now. Like he has never had a bad call end a game in his favor. Damn Crybaby. Got to blame losing on something.
These guys were on the second of a back to back, playing at altitude, and with only 7 healthy bodies in the second half and then this happens. Who cares if it's doesn't meet your criteria as the "worst" call ever, it was awful and inexcusable. That should be enough. This was especially egregious since it was with under 20 seconds to go and would have tied the game. The fact they've lost games this year that they should have won is not part of this discussion. It's completely irrelevant. At least in those games their performance was the cause of the result. Last night it was the cause of three idiots who suck at their job. Pointing to poor possessions earlier in the game is irrelevant as well. There are always going to be poor possessions but that doesn't mean that officiating doesn't influence games and I'm sick of that argument. It's not hyperbole to say that one game can cost a team a playoff spot at the end of the year, it happens all the time. If it's solely due to their performances that's fair, but now it won't be. That's not hyperbole, it's just a factual statement that even the guy who "blocked" the shot acknowledged.
I agree with your overall take here on the team but you have to bifurcate (I hope you appreciate my word use here, ha ha) the roster issues with the bad call, in my opinion. The Blazers twice in the last week had to play Utah on the 2nd night of a back-to-back while traveling. They did have 9 guys in this game. One of them got Kobra Kai'ed out of the game and the other got kicked out sticking up for him (he shouldn't have but that's not on Neil). Dame didn't deserve to have a chance to win that game ripped from him no matter what you think of the team around him.
