OKC was without Gallo and on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. If you really want something to compare it to the Blazers lost by 43 to the Bucks in Milwaukee last year on the 2nd night of a back-to-back too. Only difference is that game was in November so no one knew how good they were going to be and they hadn't added Hood and Kanter yet.
The point was more about the Thunder winning 14 of 17 but yes they obviously had a very tough game. However it was only their 5th since the All Star break and they just came off wins against the Kings and Bulls. Lets take that a step further. The Blazers record was 12-6 at that point. They had just won 2 in a row on the road. That game was the 5th of a 6 game road trip and the 3rd game in 4 nights. They were down 7-26 in the first quarter. Biggest take from that game was 9-41 from 3 point and Nurkic only playing 21 mins. They didn't fair much better the next game at GS losing by 28 and actually lost 6 of the next 7 in a brutal stretch of schedule. No question the Blazers had a tough stretch at the end of November last year but they did have a fairly successful December.
Fatigue, injuries, and a road game against a really good team. Whether they played it straight or took a stab at the Houston game plan they were almost certain to lose. This was the equivalent of throwing up a length of the court shot at the buzzer - no matter how badly you miss, it still only counts as one loss and it just might go in.
After trading Marcus Morris the Knicks only have 3 power forwards now. They have to get back up to 4.
I can't help but wonder if the new Knicks' Prez is just doing his old friend a favor and is helping him drive up his price.
Doesn't make sense to go to a rebuilding team as Melo likely only has a couple seasons left in him and would likely want to hook up with a contender if available.
What Melo wants and what contenders want are two different things. I don't see Anthony as a worthwhile contributor to a contender. He's a low efficiency scorer who's a big minus on defense. That's his entire game now. A nostalgia reunion with the Knicks probably makes the most sense.
Plus, I don't think winning a championship is a priority for Melo at this point. He seems happy just playing and having the fan support.
Got to agree. But that was ugly. You got to admit that game was ugly. I was rooting for 50 for a while. They got it to 51 and then lost it.
