Either i missed it or no one said Fight Club? Or is that just because i fucked up and just broke the first rule???
I mean, if Fight Club is a "sports movie," than The Princess Bride deserves mention for the sword-fighting. I strongly recommend The Princess Bride.
Rollerball (1975) Plot: it is the future (2018 I think) and corporations run the world. Everybody loves the super-violent game of Rollerball, whose aging star (James Caan, excellent) Jonathan E is a threat to the corporation ethos that no individual can rise above the group. So they make the game steadily more and more violent in the hopes of getting him killed. The sport actually makes sense, so much so that the cast played it in between filming and various entrepreneurs offered the director wads of cash to franchise it. He refused, because the whole fucking message of the movie was that it was fucked up.
