Small towns are great but my medical needs surpass what small population areas can provide. Then there's the issue of my wife who loves concrete and neon, expensive stores, gas stations where she can pick and choose the lowest price, stores, stores, stores. She did love going to the beach to see my parents but I wonder if that wasn't because my mother took us out to eat at every restaurant in the Seaside thru Astoria region often. You'd be hard pressed to name a restaurant there that we haven't been to at least a dozen times.

I'm think the D's should compromise on the corporate bailout: give the R's about 350B of the corporate 'slush' fund as long as there is immediate and full disclosure

but only do it if the R's agree to full no-excuse absentee and early voting by mail

Yes, it's always the R's who are bad and the D's who are good. I spelled exactly my problem with the Democrats here. If you chose to believe the democrats are blameless than go ahead.

That's because Cuomo actually makes sense when he speaks.

give me a break with that crap TB...where the hell did I say the D's are "always good"....that's a straw man argument. Sometimes, the "both sides" argument is valid; that's not the case here

what I said was the way the D's in the House handled their emergency/relief legislation was much better than the way the R's are handling things when the ball is in their court

and for chrissakes, I was obviously talking about the urgency of passing legislation quickly that both sides can agree on. I would think things like unemployment insurance, small business relief, and help for hospitals and medical personnel is something both sides can agree on. They sure as hell pay lip service to it all the time. Why delay those three things with the demand for a secret 500B slush fund for corporations or go after Planned Parenthood, again?...can you justify that?

the House passed narrow legislation and got broad bi-partisan support. The R's in the senate are doing the opposite; trying to pass some giant bill filled with partisan wish lists and terrible accountability that is guaranteed to rankle the other side

Pelosi and the D's passed legislation that Trump green-lighted and was very likely to get unanimous consent in the senate. That streamlined the process and supercharged the timeline. Again, that's the opposite of what McConnell is doing, and we all know it

I didn't make a "both side's" arguments I said one side was doing something and looked bad, and the other side was doing something else and looked bad. All you've been able to manage is to tell me how only the Republicans look bad. The both sides argument is "both sides do the same thing", I didn't say that. I said one side is trying to push their political agenda (the republicans) though after hearing more about it it sounds like both sides had their own agenda's in there), and the other side was just shutting it down while not bringing their own bill to the table. I said they should make it two bills so they can fondle each other's agenda's together at some other time because people who need money immediately aren't getting it. So yours is also the strawman argument because you're arguing something I wasn't arguing.

Cause to me all of them look like garbage right now, but for different reasons. Not because "both sides do it", cause that wasn't my argument.

I explicitly mentioned the senate D's playing the same game that the R's are playing now and have played for the last 3 years

but the senate D's are in the minority. McConnell is in charge in the senate

Pelosi is in charge in the house and 10 days ago did the exact thing that both of us are saying needs to happen now. The D's in the house sat aside partisanship and pet projects in order to get a relief bill passed. The R's in the senate could do the same thing right now but aren't.

Love me some Neil Diamond. Actually saw him in concert when I was back East in the late 60s. Could possibly have been in Florida when I was there in '67.

Well, I absolutely said the Senate and the Republicans shouldn't be sliding their stuff into disaster relief bills.

I think we both got here basically on the same path. I said that any legislation right now should be narrow. Get the easy things done first. My idea of easy would be unemployment insurance expansion, small business relief; and all kinds of help for hospitals and medical workers. Seems like those could be worked out pretty quickly if there was no added amendments coming in from either side. I did ask if that was being naive and Lanny basically told me to get off of fantasy island
