Yes due to the virus the two vets I've talked to so far aren't doing home visits. His normal vet only works wednesday - saturday. However she put a note in his profile that monday I would possibly be calling about this. Was told by the owner that they're not allowing people in the office. That I would have to say my goodbyes outside of the office. Which isn't realistic at all. I switched to this vet's office because of how comfortable my dog was compared to his old one. But I am still his owner, father, etc. He is most comfortable with me. I basically told them to fuck off. Now this day that is already literally the worst day in history of days. Is completely fucked because I have to call around to find a damn vet that will let me be with my child in his last moments. Idiotic thing is if I had the virus(which I don't) it's more likely to be passed by the fur of your animal when you pet it. Than the fucking leash. I'm so livid right now. But I can't show it because of how in-tune still my dog is with me. His body is failing him, his mind isn't.
If I remember right (normally I'm sobbing and hugging goodbye) I believe it's two shots they give the dog. Maybe see if you can put your dog in the backseat of your car, go to the vet, get out of the car, stand 10 feet away from it, have the vet come out, administer the shots, leave, then you get in the backseat of the car with your dog so you can spend your last moments together.
It is two shots. One is an anastesia so they will fall into a deep sleep. The other is the actual seizure medication pentobarbital.(hopefully I spent that correctly) Remember sly I have a phd in animal psychology. So I know a lot about this stuff. I've scheduled an appointment for tomorrow at 11 with lap of love. We'll see how this goes. At least they'll do it in his home.
It was a nice day today in Nashville. Got my dog, Roxie, out for a good 5-mile walk. Felt SO good to get out of the house. It's been raining here so much I thought I was back in Portland.
Nashville is one the cleanest cities Ive ever been in, very impressed. How is the homeless situation there? Ive stayed in The Opryland Hotel a few times. Ive been to many resort hotels but that thing is impressive.
It is very clean...and growing leaps and bounds. We do have homeless, but seemingly not in the forefront as in many other cities across the land. I've mentioned in other threads that my wife and I will be doing some volunteer work to help the homeless. The city has set up learning centers as to provide education to these folks. We also have a number of great food pantries here. One thing about Nashville is that the country music stars really seem to step up and help. There's a lot of compassion. I love the sentiment and spirit here. When was the last time you were here?
Wife wants me to take her there for the Xmas season as it lit up more than most cities, Especially the Opryland Hotel, been there once during the season.
I’d love to visit Nashville some day. I have some friends that live in Columbia which isn’t too far I think. My dad spent part of his youth in Tennessee as well.
Dang. We live in Thompson's Station which is just up the road from Columbia. If you get out this way, first beer/drink is on me!
During my hiatus from this nuthouse, we got a new dog. He has been great these past two weeks. Keeping the kids entertained. His name, Rocky aka The Rock Day we brought him home end of December he was 7 weeks This past week, almost 5 months....
This far into the lockdown, if it wasn’t for having a dog to walk and otherwise entertain me, I probably would have killed my wife and burned down my neighborhood by now..........
