Ironic that for people who claim they want all the freedoms, they are okay defending one's hope to be a dictator and thus living in a dictatorship.

How do you not see the obvious?

Looks like there are some powers there, but congress or the Supreme Court can override it. Gotta study it more. I’m too tired to do full blown research.

The Emergency act is temp power. It’s not permanent. I think it’s 2 years max, with a 6 month oversight with congress.

*Source: <MSN- Asked what provisions of the Constitution gave him the power to override the states if they wanted to remain closed, he said, “Numerous provisions,” without naming any. “When somebody’s the president of the United States, the authority is total.”

    Well, this ain't good;

    https://www.nydailynews.com/coronav...0200413-z4okj4gx35ddveqs4lqaoturyy-story.html

More than 100 South Koreans who recovered test positive for coronavirus again

At least 116 people in South Korea who were previously cleared of coronavirus have tested positive again, increasing fears of a second wave of infections in the country.

Overall, South Korea reported only 25 new cases of coronavirus on Monday. The country has reported 10,537 cases and 217 deaths.

Experts said it didn’t necessarily mean that people had been reinfected and it is possible that faulty tests cleared the people originally, or the virus could stay in people’s systems longer than previously thought.

“I think what is very, very unlikely is that these people are being reinfected by other people,” Curtin University professor of infectious disease epidemiology Archie Clements told Al Jazeera. “There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that there is quite a strong immune response to infection with coronavirus, and that should protect people from infection for a period of time. What’s not currently known is for how long.”

South Korea has been praised for its response to the coronavirus outbreak, including widespread testing. While experts have encouraged the country’s officials to keep certain restrictions in place, others have called for South Korea to loosen various public health guidelines.

“We need a very cautious approach because any premature easing of social distancing could bring irreversible consequences, and have to ponder deeply about when and how we switch to the new system,” Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said.

I'm a Beaver, so I love the color orange.
Orange on a man's face seems a bit much, though.

Trump cannot order businesses to reopen. It's called free enterprise, remember? How we were told how great it is? He also can't force people to go places.

He said the federal government was backup, states had to control their response. He said they weren't shipping clerks. Federal stockpile belongs to Jared, not states. Now he says he can dictate internal matters to every state and territory because ... he's divinely chosen?

    I call bullshit.

I believe Dr. Fauci said the same thing during one of the pressers.

The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution of the United States (Article VI, Clause 2), establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the "supremeLaw of the Land", and thus take priority overany conflicting state laws.

Not necessarily agree with this, but this could be one angle.

Exactly...it's the uncertainty one way or the other that's concerning.

I have heard several constitution experts say that trump doesn't have the authority to force states.
