One of the 911 calls was ...there's a black man running down the street.

3 dudes saw a black man running in their neighborhood, and their first thought was obviously a negative one, because they grabbed guns and jumped in their truck to chase him down.
Dont give me the let's not make it about race bullshit.

No confirmation bias says it was because he was black, common sense says it probably was but judging motivation of others is pretty close to impossible. Again it probably was racially motivated and the fact the authorities haven't done anything that is racially driven. They should be in jail. I can almost guarantee if it was 3 black guys and a white dead guy the authorities would have locked them up in a heartbeat.

You can make it about whatever you want, I'm not telling you what you can or can't make it about.

After they chased him down for no reason with shotguns. You're really trying your best to justify something horrible here.

wait? what? You say no confirmation of racial motivation (did you expect the 3 white guys to say they did it because he was black?) and then say that you can almost guarantee that if it was the opposite the 3 black guys would be in jail. That's racism tbf.

    That's not what I said.
I said confirmation bias says that he was killed by racially motivated white men with guns, that's it's probably the case but you can't prove that. Common sense says it's probable, not absolute.
The system in which the white guys haven't been prosecuted, put in prison, that is racism, and systematic racism.

If that's what you meant that's definitely not how it came across as this is what I read

"No confirmation bias says it was because he was black"

    am i reading it wrong?

All I am saying is we don't "know" their motivation if it was all because he was black that they went after him, or what. We think (at least most of us I see a few who disagree) it was spurned on by racism, and if a white guy was running through their neighborhood they wouldn't have done that. We know that three people chasing down anyone with shotguns is wrong in the first place and that the fact he died because of their actions means that they should be in prison. The fact they are not is due to a system that is racist, that could also be called confirmation bias but we have plenty of evidence to support the claim that when white people are killed by blacks (especially in southern states) the law acts swiftly and often times unjustly.
If you want to say they killed him because he was black, go ahead I am not stopping you or anyone else from making that claim and there is good reason to believe that. There is definitely plenty of historical evidence of racism in the south, but it's a dangerous game to start thinking we're absolutely sure what motivates an individual.

So unless the perp confesses to do it because of racism then no crime can ever be determined to be racist? That's pretty much what you are saying. Let's say I am 99.9% sure it was racially motivated. That way we can leave .1% for the unknown. Logic, history and common sense led me to that conclusion.

I don't think anyone (except perhaps the one Georgian in the thread) disputes that it's a reasonable conclusion. Just the notion that it's an absolute certainty.

How much of those individuals history do you know though? How much do you know of what transpired beforehand? One of those guys was in his 60's Would be interesting to know his history. There's a reason why intent is really, really hard to prove in court. I am not trying to justify any of it, they belong in jail, they should've been in jail weeks ago.

The idea that there's somehow some justification to the DA not charging them yet is incomprehensible to me. Seeing him running on their street meant they "were within their rights to arm themselves and chase him down" (per the article)? Huh? In what world?!

So back in the early days when black men were chased down and shot or hung we don't know for sure if it was racially motivated. We don't know if refusing to let black people use white bathrooms, drink out of water fountains, vote or enter white establishments if it was racially motivated. Gotcha.

I agree. Especially to chase him down in a truck, with shotguns. What the heck is that? Then to try to justify it the way he does is some crazy, crazy stuff.

We know that was racially motivated because they made laws, enacted rules and legislation to hinder one race. What we don't know is that when an individual or individuals, in this case, commit a crime what their motivations were. Those are two different things.

Your trying really hard to defend the posse/shooters. Your live in Georgia right? Is that part of why you are defending them. Three armed white guys chased down and shot a black man to death. On the 911 call they said a black man was running down the street. And their first thought was to get their guns and take chase? That is racially motivated in my book.

Even if there was a fight over the shotgun, it doesn't make what these men did right. Maybe the black guy was cornered and was fighting for his life. Stop defending them. They belong in prison.

You're wrong, CC...I'm not defending them, I'm am however at least willing to admit for about the 3rd time that I don't know the whole story and don't have all the facts, and neither do you. From what I understand, the FBI is investigating but they don't give out info on an ongoing investigation. Like I said, I'll reserve judgment when the dust settles but until then, I won't.

Am I trying to tell you or anyone else not to condemn them...but for me, I follow the innocent until proven guilty group.

And no, the fact that I live in Georgia has nothing to do with it, that's preposterous.

But I will tell you that where I live we have had a rash of thefts/break-ins in the area...law mowers, 4 wheelers, motorcycles, tools, etc., and whenever we see someone we don't walking or riding around our close-knit neighborhood, we eyeball them and sometimes follow them, and no, we don't care what color their skin is, and yes, if I jump in my truck to follow them, I carry a weapon, just in case.

We know enough of the story to know they are guilty, racial motivation or not. They got their guns and chased down and unarmed man and shot and killed him. Just because Georgia allows them to open carry doesn't allow them to be vigilantes or form posses to chase after unarmed individuals of which they have no proof committed any crime. They belong in prison.

The fact that it was a black man jogging in a rural area has me really suspicious of his motives..
