Love Billings....I went there 6-8 times a year during y working days. Got to know many great restaurants and bars. Loved those gals in tight colorful wranglers. I was there during their centennial celebration and got to se Hoyt Axton. Watched many Blazer games at the Billings Club of which Danny Ainge owned a piece of.
I actually prefer Double Dead Guy. Whenever I get to Newport, I stop in @ Rogue...as well as Local Ocean restaurant. One of THE best restaurants on the Oregon Coast, IMO.
For some reason the pubs on the Oregon Coast seem to have some sort of “blanket” deal with Rogue (or something). Virtually every dive pub over there has it on tap for incredibly cheap (compared to valley pubs anyway). I’ve spent many a happy hour (whether it was Happy Hour or not) swilling Dead Guy (Most of the time at the Sportman’s Pub in Pacific City) on a very regular basis. Great stuff! I wish I could still drink like I used to.....but then, that may be why I can’t really drink now.....it’s a conundrum.... On a side note....3 years ago I was in a New Orleans pub/bar waiting for @BLAZINGGIANTS to arrive and I noticed a Dead Guy tap (??). The bartender said they only got a keg or two a month but that it was extremely popular with a group of regulars. He also said they were trying to keep its’ popularity on the down low until they could convince the distributor that they could indeed sell a larger quantity if it was available. The guy said it was extremely hard to get down there.....
We had Blitz, Bohemian, Heidelberg, Rainier, Olympia and more (usually regional) swill brands. Teenagers couldn’t afford to be picky.......
PBR, Schlitz, Falstaff, Storz, Old Milwaukie, Bud or Hamms in Iowa...had to drive to Colorado for Coors back then
It's not easy to get down here in Florida either but it's all about who you know, and I found the spot. Haven't been there in a while for obvious reasons, sadly.
Yessir. Bass mostly, although haven’t played a show in probably 4 or 5 years. Jam a lot with buddies though. Like to jam guitar or uke also when writing music. I’ll hop on a drum kit if there’s one around.
Loved me some Heidelberg as that's all my parents drank and one year going camping in northern Idaho my parents and uncles and friends brought a utility trailer up that had around 36 cases of Heidelberg. It was quite a sight. My roommate and I also went down to Lake Shasta to camp and ski and we brought Heidelberg with us and the Californians were intrigued by the little keg bottle as they had never heard of it. We told them it was a high end beer only available in the NW and similar to Heineken. They bought it. I also remember the days of having a U of Portland beer night at the Blitz hospitality room at the brewery. Definitely paid the price the next day though. It was called the Blitz shits for a reason.
PBR was my grandpas go to back in the day. A shot of brandy in the morning then slowly sip PBR all day while smoking cigarettes and watching sports from his chair. He died in like 08’ at 93 years old. According to my dad he had that same routine for like 30 years
I don’t really have a go to. I try something new every time if possible. I’m mainly an IPA drinker. The stronger the better. I’m big on Crux, dogfish head, Phreim. In the summer after a long day at work in the heat I’ll drink coors light sometimes
My favorite is: https://st3.depositphotos.com/75977...-photo-glass-guinness-original-beer-black.jpg But I also like: https://media.gettyimages.com/photo...tles-in-which-picture-id461116004?s=2048x2048
We couldn’t get Coors in Oregon back then either. So if any of the gang was ever going to California, they were tasked with hauling back as much Coors as they had room for. It always made a welcome change from the usual swill. And we thought it made us cool......
