That was the "When the looting starts, the shooting starts" tweet that got removed, right?

    Good.

The shithead is probably sitting at one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes, sipping a beer, anticipating the first retirement paycheck and waiting for it all to blow over. Being part of “The Thin Blue Line (what a crock of bullshit) and despite his appalling record as a cop, he knows he’s highly unlikely to ever be held legally accountable. If they let him slide all these years, they’re going to let him slide on this one. I expect The Imbecile In Chief to call him a “good person” and pardon him any day now......

I'll tell you what....trump will claim he's been breathing tear gas to protect against Covid....and he'll produce a memo about it from his doctor

plus: he'll also claim it's safe to shop at Target

Who cares about the 800000 doing their jobs the right way. This is about the ones who don’t. Cops who don’t kill people don’t deserve praise. So go ahead and say “yeah but there are good ones”. Throw a party. Who cares. Gee I am ever so grateful we have many cops who don’t murder! Yippeeeee

To say all cops are bad is the same as saying all Blacks are criminals. Or all Whites are racist.

Generalizing only creates more separation and divide.
We must all unite and condemn the specific violators. Not all who look alike, dress alike or work for the same employer are the same.

Edit function is not working. I'm trying to edit the above post. The edit screen pops up but then goes away before I can edit. Then when I click edit again, nothign happens. I refresh the page and same process.

EDIT: Hmm after I posted this, the edit now works.

When a white guy shot Martin Luther King there were riots across the country with burning and looting....the generalization is not the issue here...this is a reaction to a really bad white cop killing a black man..in a country that has lynched a lot of black men.....perspective. There's a great video of a black cop disgustedby this who addresses the issue ...couldn't find it on youtube but it really says it all

I completely agree, the vast majority of police officers are not bad people and truly care about the citizens they are charged to protect.

But here is a big problem, some of the officers like the ones who killed the man in Minnesota have had multiple complaints for violence filed against them. All of the complaints were filed by citizens, none by fellow officers. Police are very reluctant to police themselves.

There have been studies done with retired officers asking them about the crimes and/or questionable actions they witnessed by other officers and it's over 80% of those retired officers that admitted they saw stuff during their careers and didn't say anything.

    That's the problem.

The police feel there is a thin blue line and at the same time they operate behind a blue wall of silence.

Is an officer still considered good if they witness another officer doing wrong and stay silent about it?

    That's difficult to answer.

maybe we all need to step back from the edge a bit

yeah, it's a pisser to see the looting and destruction. Just about everybody wants it to stop....(unless they are planning on reprising a 60's-70's law & order campaign for president with all the racist code-words).

unfortunately, every time there are massive reactive protests like these, shit like that happens. It happened in the 60's in Watts and Detroit; in Camden in the 70's; in Miami in the 80's; in the 90's in St. Petersburg and after the Rodney King verdict. Those were all racially motivated riots of course. There was plenty of damage from all the protests and riots in the 60's & 70's over the Vietnam war. Those were a lot of white kids though and many would argue that Kent State was a turning point

there will always be bad elements, in the crowds, at these protests, waiting for a spark and willing to go wild after the spark lights the fire. And it's entirely possible that some of those bad elements will be wearing uniforms

but think about the situation and what some are calling for: the video is ubiquitous and it showed 4 white cops likely murdering a defenseless black man, and doing so callously and with prejudice. People are fed-up and pissed-off, protesting and some are crossing lines and damaging property. Is the best reaction to that situation to put a bunch more policemen in the path of the protests and push back violently? and violence would be almost inevitable in that circumstance. I really don't know the answer to that. The protests are about the police and another in a seemingly endless line of minority victims of police violence and over-reaction. So let's create more victims and opportunity for over-reaction?

"shoot the looters" can quickly morph into shoot the protestors. That's happened many times before

I'm glad there are 800k cops that aren't murderers.

This is about the cops who are murderers and how they should be jailed as murderers.

one thing that hasn't been mentioned, much, is that some of the motivation for the riots is about the shooting of Breonna Taylor in Louisville (which has had massive riots). The release of the 911 call yesterday fanned the flames:

Naturally, the optimal thing is to have each sect police themselves. Call their own out. I think this goes beyond Police.

If we want trust and to be trusted? Trust of different people? it will only come from self policing.

Who said I said someone said that? Just making a statement. No different than I would, and have made, about the posts and memes going around social media portraying Blacks as lawless animals for looting, when there are Whites and others doing the same thing.
