Wrestling coach in Washington state fired over post on George Floyd's detention
"His behavior was not consistent with our equity initiatives and nondiscrimination policies," the Bethel School District said of coach Dave Hollenbeck's Facebook post.

A high school wrestling coach in Washington state has been fired over a post about George Floyd's getting pinned down by a Minneapolis police officer.

Dave Hollenbeck, a first-year coach at Bethel High School in Spanaway, about 45 miles south of Seattle, uploaded a photo to Facebook of himself on the floor, smiling, with a knee to the back of his neck, similar to images of Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man, who died on Monday after being handcuffed and pinned to the ground by a white officer, Derek Chauvin, who had his knee on Floyd's neck for about eight minutes.

Hollenbeck, 44, wrote in the post: "Not dead yet I'm doing this for ... police officers the media is a race baiting machine and I'm tired of it I’m going to speak out every time if you don’t like that I’m sorry but I love All people.. Wake up America."

    Occupation:
    Saying this for years
Listening to C-SPAN right now. It's a call-in segment on the president's reaction to the racial unrest.

Almost all the callers the last 15 minutes have been on the Republican line and have been from the Deep South. Some of the things the callers have brought up included:

-- Trump is bringing love and respect to all Americans. This older-sounding woman from Pennsylvania also called for all clergy in the U.S. to form a prayer circle.

-- It was Obama's fault. He was so inept he couldn't even save four Americans in Benghazi (not making this up).

-- Two consecutive callers said they would welcome a racial civil war.

-- Two callers said the president is not responsible for any of this and it's about the governors and mayors. One caller said they finally seem to be getting it and are starting to follow the president's advice for hardline tactics.

-- One woman was not a racist because she has a biracial grandchild.

-- One caller blamed it on Trump but said it also was C-SPAN's fault.

    Looks open to me.

That's not how it works. In an event, the secret service will take you down to the bunker. Your feet might touch the ground a couple times, but they will not take chances. They will carry you down there.

Please tell me this is a parody account. Goddamn, these people don't want affordable healthcare, or a affordable education, or a minimum wage that is actually reasonabe, but guns... Oh guns they want readily available to the masses.

The lobbyists that control this country and the minions that eat it up are ruining it. Messed up fucking priorities.

Just heard that that's what Floyd's family is demanding, which I think is ridiculous.

Personally, I don't think the prosecution would have a chance of proving intent to kill, let alone premeditation. 3rd degree is the right call.

i'm sorry, but this is insane.

HOW THE FUCK IS THAT EVEN RELEVANT?

Just because he might have priors, he's allowed to be murdered on the street? Is that what you are suggesting?

what did you expect them to say?

If one of your family members gets murdered on the street and there's video that the victim's children have to live with every day of their lives, would you not want the most stringent punishment on the murderer?

I would want them to be charged with the strongest charge that actually had a reasonable chance of conviction. There's no value to charging them with 1st degree if they end up acquitted.

Considering he's responding to my claim that anything above 3rd degree seems to be a reach, I think he's suggesting that if the cop has past history with the guy he killed, it might suggest intent or even premeditation, warranting the stronger charge I'm saying seems unlikely to be successful.

First, I wasn't making a judgement or saying one way or another. It was a question as to whether his past history has any input on Platys post about it being ridiculous.

Second, without agreeing or disagree, past history is most certainty relevant in the courts. Have you heard of 3 strikes?

Not even sure what you are trying to say. Insane? Prosecuting attorneys take past history into account all the time. And you are saying my one question is insane? Or are you saying its insane they do so?

    I think that's a bit of a stretch man.....

I thought he was referring to the victim, not the murderer.

It is insane to think that one life is more valuable than another. And that the punishment for murder should be more lenient if the victim had priors. Wtf. This is exactly the kind of subtle institutional racism that is ruining this country.
