This is not a legitimate season, nor championship (unless we win)

IIRC, the minimum is 70% of games/teams participating in order to trigger the full TV revenue

    22/30 = 73%....coincidence?

It's a coincidence only if Silver is a moron.

I think the generally agreed start date is Christmas day. Not much of an off-season for teams that go deep into the playoffs, which could factor into the results for the 20-21 season. Golden State will be healthy and very well rested. The Nets probably aren't going far this year and will have Durant back at the start of next season.

I think teams like the warriors will actually be pretty rusty cause come around Christmas time they will not have played for at least 9 months. And teams that make the playoff and especially the one that make it to the finals will be ready to play but they could very well get tired toward the end of the season

from what I’ve heard the season will be starting in January to allow for proper planning to have fans attending

that’s why this year is delayed so much, so next year they can try to have fans back and make more revenue

Can anyone explain to me why you think this is not a legitimate season and whoever wins the championship deserves an asterisk? I don't understand the argument now and I've never understood it for lockout seasons.

Everyone's season was shortened. Everyone has the same disadvantage of being rusty and having to work back into playing shape. Everyone has the same advantage of being well-rested. The only possible issue is if a big-name starter goes down in the finals due to Covid, then I could see the argument.

If the Blazers were a top 3 seed and serious contenders, would any of you be any less exhilarated to win the championship? Don't be a hypocrite and pretend the championship is tainted if the Lakers win.

From a personal finances standpoint, you’d be ahead if I’m right.

So, we are going to end up with teams playing different numbers of games which could mess with both draft order and play-off seeding? :rolleyes2:

No. Every team will play the next 8 games of their regular season schedule skipping the teams who didn't make it.

So, each team will play 8 regular season games. The next 8 on their schedule skipping the teams who didn't make it. After the 8 games if the team in 9th is within 4 games of the team in 8th, they play each other twice. 9th seed has to win both to get 8th. Here are the current standings and game schedules for 8th and 9th seeds in the west. I have removed the teams in these schedules who didn't make it to Disney World because those games will not be played.

    MEM
    (32- 33 8th)

Next 8 Games: POR, UTA, SAS, OKC, MIL, NO, NO, BOS

    POR (29-37 T-9th)

Next 8 Games: MEM, HOU, DAL, BOS, PHI, BKN, UTA, MEM

    NOP (28-36 T-9th)

Next 8 Games: SAC, UTA, LAC, SAS, MEM, SAC, MEM, WAS

    Kings (28-36 T-9th)

Next 8 Games: NO, BKN, DAL, HOU, NO, SAS, LAC, LAL

    SPURS (27-36 T - 9th)

Next 8 Games: DEN, MEM, NO, UTA, UTA, DEN, SAC, NO

So, POR will end the season playing 74 games, MEM 73, NOP & Sac 72, and SAS 71. The Blazers could wind up drafting behind teams with fewer loses because of a .00x difference in winning %.
