I think its fine to have those who want to enjoy the Red White and Blue, nothing wrong with being patriotic. Look how much we celebrate July 4th and all types of people enjoy the celebration. I have a flag on my home and even on my trailer and its just a way I like to honor our country and men and who have serve. I'll be honest it bothers me when I see someone burn our flag out of disrespect. I understood why players were kneeling as it was a platform which I was ok with as long as they respectfully conveyed their message. Little Wayne has it right, imo. Be focused and don't paint with a wide brush.
nothing wrong with that. I recently bought a flagpole mount so i can get mine up. But we cant put down those for kneeling in protest of unfair treatment. America is about equality. To take a knee during the anthem can also mean that currently America isnt working as it was intended when the flag was originated. Kneeling could mean lets get back to what the flag represents. I give myself to the original meaning of the flag. I bow down to its true meaning. can we make it a rage2.0 in 2020?
You can always drink a beer, take a video of the person singing and pyrotechnics and talk during the national anthem like I do. Just making a statement.
If this actually happened (and I, like most everyone else who reads the board, have my doubts that this actually happened), everyone here knows the second the guy yelled at you, you pee'd a little, because there is no way on this or any other planet, you would have the balls to talk shit to a vet in a disrespectful tone without getting your ass beat. There are certain things you don't do to vets (esp the hardcore ones like Marines and those in the Navy), as much as you want to disagree with them. You don't disrespect their uniform and you don't try to act like a fake tough guy.
Wasn't yelling, just freaking out about it. it was a family party. Dude was in his 50s or 60s. I just said "my bad" and walked away. Just seemed really dumb, but i guess if someone did that to a good basketball jersey of mine, I would react the same way.
How many nights after did you think about the interaction, and wishing if you only had your car taser handy!5? 7? Still comes up on rainy nights?
Personally, I don't think turning your back (kneeling, or whatever) on the emblem that stands for the sacrifices that were made for our freedom (Yes, we're ALL free! I mean, we could've been born in China or North Korea, or...) is the best way to bring recognition to racial equality and social justice. I believe there can be other more appropriate ways to accomplish this.
Well, they try marching, and that's not a good way. Athletes try tweeting about it or discussing it in press conferences, and are told that's not a good way. So why the fuck does an old white guy get to tell a young black man what the proper way is to bring recognition to racial inequalities? Because it inconveniences and offends YOU? FUCK THAT! 400 years of being shit on, but now some old white people go clutching their pearls because you didn't do as they say and respect a flag of a nation that has systemically treated you like shit.
Which goes unnoticed. If the last week has taught us anything its that it takes a strong abrasive movement to get anyone to listen and pay attention.
I've got a 20 ft. lighted flagpole with a gold American Eagle on the top. I fly the flag 24 hours every day proudly. I'd take a knee at an outdoor singing of our National Anthem with my hand over my heart or my hat over my left shoulder if my disability would allow it. I sing the Anthem and I sing America the Beautiful although it really ain't too pretty. I don't like the racism one tiny bit but I still love the flag.
Personally I disagree with you. As does every military member in my family current & former. Even my WW2 vet grandfather disagrees with you. The guy who would wear his hat ww2 war vet hat to breakfest saturday mornings. Only to have people come up thank him and ask to shake his hand. But you'll never change. #blindfollower.
