Then why are you even commenting when you have no real idea as to what is being said? The easy answer is that you’re just trolling to amuse yourself. Hopefully it’s working for you.

Well, I sure can't help it if you're not able to discern anything from my comments. Take a few moments to go back through them, if you even care to. Obviously, you have no concept of the term troll.

what would be even better yet would be if our elected officials took these issues to another level....instead of attacking the sport a protester plays as having horrible ratings...losing...no good anymore...poor ratings....it starts at the top and now....the top is the bottom unfortunately

    Hello darkness, my old friend
ABM is simply the type of sheltered white man who figures if things worked out for him, there can't be injustices or problems other people face that he has no conception of. That's essentially the root of his smug "Why don't they just solve the problems rather than wasting time telling me about them?" attitude. I don't think he's a bad person, just someone who doesn't understand what people who aren't white, straight men often face and was taught all through his life that he shouldn't need to learn because "American is the fairest, most just society God ever created. Everybody has the same opportunities."

@ABM you should look into Lillard's Respect program. He's been going into the schools and communities for years.

While we disagree on various matters, I find you to be a reasonable and thoughtful poster in here. This is an article you might be interested in reading.....

As I'm not Portland local, I miss some of the other things going on there. That said, anything such as the RESPECT program gets my vote as players making above and beyond efforts to get involved in their communities. Bravo for Dame!

    • Show Up – Arriving on time each day ready to engage and learn shows respect for your family and teachers.
    • Work Hard – Working hard and doing your best shows respect for yourself and your future.
    • Be Kind – Being kind, showing respect and valuing the differences in others.

So is it your opinion that they shouldn't be doing other things like taking action in protests, or kneeling during the national anthem? Just how you think someone should take a stand or have a voice is the only way?

Trump says he hopes George Floyd 'looking down' and seeing today’s jobs numbers as 'a great day for him'

Donald Trump has said he hopes George Floyd is "looking down right now" and saying the decline in US unemployment announced on Friday is a "great thing that's happening for our country".

The nation's unemployment rate saw a surprise decline following the coronavirus pandemic but remains higher than during the Great Recession, prompting the president to state that a strong economy was central to improving racial tensions.

His remarks follow Thursday's memorial for Mr Floyd, who was killed by police on Memorial Day after an officer forced his knee on the back of his neck for nearly nine minutes while facing the ground in handcuffs.

The president said: "Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying, 'This is a great thing that's happening for our country. It's a great day for him, it's a great day for everybody. It's a great day for everybody. This is a great, great day."

Asked how the rate of unemployment among black Americans can be considered a "victory" as it continues to increase, the president told White House reporter Yamiche Alcindor, "You are something."

I read it and it's an editorial by a priveleged guy who uses the descriptor "noble" to describe protest....nobles were royals...court favorites...bad adjective to address racial injustice in this manner. Also the emphasis is on how the protester is perceived by the status quo...not the spark that change can instigate....I learned virtually nothing from the article....read Nelson George, Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Malcom X, Doctor King and others for civil rights perspectives...Buckley tried to debate Baldwin and that didn't end well...whites need to shut up and listen about racial profiling and not trying to whitesplain it to minorities in the country any more. Andrew Friedman has a circuit where he whitesplains politics for profit...bright lawyer but not the voice representing racial oppression....

You remind of my uncle Dean. Super nice guy. Kinda of a metrosexual. Has a story about everything and very knowledgeable. Wouldn’t harm a fly.

But the world outside of his little bubble he’s super naive to.

Oh and he’s blindly conservative too. In a family full of Democrats.

    Never said that.

What I AM saying is, if you're going to the effort to protest, why not back it up with other efforts (such as Dame's)? I mean, in this context, we're talking about highly privileged individuals. Much more highly privileged than any of us here. I can guarantee that. Why would they NOT take that privilege, extrapolate that productively within their respective communities (if not collectively), and set an incredible example....as opposed to taking a knee for taking a knee's sake? I'm sure many are. My point is generally speaking.

because Colin K didn't take a knee for taking a knee's sake....he took a knee to protest cops killing and harrassing black people and you're making an assumption these guys haven't taught their children, visited schools, lectured, promoted civil rights and community health while being athletes....what you are saying is "black" wealthy athletes are abusing privilege which is very white of you to say and never assume other people aren't proactive even while they have successful careers...Martin Sheen has been arrested at hundreds of protests...a lot of wealthy people and famous people have stood for the cause....need I remind you Muhammed Ali went to prison for his beliefs and lost a fortune being banned from his sport?
