    You're such a perfectionist!! LOL

Actually, we have some of the greenest grass in the neighborhood. They mow tomorrow.

I've mowed more grass that I can think of over my 63 years. Never have owned a sit-down mower. Never wanted one. That said, I regularly do the 5-mile trek up the greenway and country hillsides with my dog. That's great exercise. I have to say, though, I sometimes miss my arduous bike rides up the highway towards Bachelor when I lived in Bend. We don't have those types of hills here! LOL

Im a lawn freak...its my therapy. We now have a smaller place where I can use my self propelled mower.

Looking for some arborvitae for the backyard along the fence. Neighbors 60 foot trees all came down with something and died. Since they cut them all down we lost all privacy back there. Not going to mess with bamboo.

Smart, bamboo sucks. They should have some big ones down there, plus you can get a landscaper discount!

Yuck, arborvitae drive me nuts... I ripped all mine out and replaced them with bamboo. Bamboo is super easy to deal with, as long as you select a "clumping" strain and not a "land racing" strain.

People who say things like "bamboo sucks," obviously haven't done their homework.

Everybody keeps telling me that, but it seems like it will be such a hassle even if I get the clumping kind. We are yard people. Don't do much, so I'm no expert when it comes to landscaping.

I just planted a hedge myself with Irish Yews. They're pretty dope but will take longer to fill in than your average suburban arborvitae. Certainly more unique than all your Portland bamboo neighbors:

Go with bamboo, use containers so it doesn't get out of hand. Less yard work that way.

I've cloned my arborvitae trees ...take cuttings and use rooting powder...now on my 3rd generation of trees....eventually I want them as fencing along most of my borders...they are great but don't let them get too tall or they're really hard to prune or top...keep them at comfortable ladder level

I use to work in my yard from 7 am until 9 pm skipping breakfast and dinner. After I was through I'd fire up the Weber and grill a hunk of beast late at night. Those were good times. Sadly, I have trouble going to bed and getting up in the morning so my wife helps me. Life sucks.
