Maybe "go to the media" isn't the best use words. Somehow make their wants more vocalized. Hold live press conferences. open discussions. Etc. I mean media, is almost too broad a term anymore. What is media? Licenced credentialed networkers? Someone with an Iphone and a twitter account? I think raw, unedited video is about the best way we can have fair reporting when it comes to reporters posting a story based on a video that doesn't show the prequel and the finalization... in other words, the situation in its entirety. I wish I had a solution to fake news. But its very real the lack of trust some have, vs the complete blind following that others also have as long as it fits a narrative. Then there are others who deny or minimize this even being a problem. I think its a HUGE part of our societal problems right now and more emphasis should be put into figuring out how to halt fake news while not impacting the rights and freedoms of individuals. I think news corporations should be held more accountable for reporting fake news. I would be in favor(what are the details?) of legislation that would impose fines or media credential revocation of networks who publicize fake news. Satirical are one thing, but photo shopping? Misleading titles of events that have occured? It's got to stop. And at the same time, and i'm guilty... we have got to stop running with the headlines and forming immovable opinions based off headlines alone.
Do you think these people that are protesting have the platform to go to the media or hold press conferences though? They are the voices being oppressed. The only way we/they can have a platform is to protest or react in the fashion that is happening. Let me ask you, would anyone give you a press conference or arguably outside this forum, have open discussions with you? Not saying I agree, but every time you use the words "fake news", someone is going to think you are a Trump supporter. It's his slogan, his lexicon. I would suggest, false reporting, or as mags would say, sensationalize or something. Idk. Just my two cents. I don't think it is the biggest part of our societal problems right now, but it does exist. Fox News is the biggest colprut in my opinion, but others are guilty too. Photoshopping should be given hefty fines.
Agreed, but at the same time( and I don't know) are they actively reaching out and asking networks for raw live press conferences that c ant be manipulated and then aired? Are they reaching out to thier social media supporters and doing FB live broadcasts with information for the public? Understood and will take note, but I think that says more about those judging me as a Trump supporter than it does me saying its fake news. Maybe those so quick to jump on that conclusion should look within themselves more. I agree 100%. I called out Fox big time on FB. Straight up. I don't do everything here anymore. Mostly because this place can be like a vulture convention....
Why would they if, as we can both agree, the news is all bullshit. I can confirm that Facebook live broadcasts are occurring and social media is being used. We all might be in our own social media bubble a bit, yourself included? That's on each person themselves. Just wanted to give you a heads up about how you may get hard blowback when trying to have an open conversation. Something I believe that you do want. What is Facebook? I ditched that place a couple years ago.
I disagree. Had it been a popular phrase that was in use before Trump, then sure. But if I say Make America Great Again, and someone assumes that I'm a trump supporter because of it, that doesn't say more about them making the assumption. It just doesn't.
Then you are using a selective bias to form your opinion while dismissing many posts of which Ive declared i'm no Trump fan or supporter. I didn't think enough of it to think it would be tied to anything other than misinformation, so your judgement of me is off base. So we shall agree to disagree ,but maybe rather than pass judgement clarify? ask? "Hey, you keep saying Fake news. Is that because you are a Trump supporter? If not, maybe I suggest using something else?" I just chalk it up to the same shit different day. Posters choosing to disregard many consistent posts in favor of focusing on one that seems to fit their narrative. In this instance its you focusing on me using the words as fake news rather than looking at the content of my statements combined with the fact i've made it clear many times I don't support the dude. so we shall have to agreee to disagree. Maybe I should have better awareness and observations of how people tie things together, and maybe you should also have the observance and awareness to see Ive made my Trump stance very clear, and yet you focus on the surface of my words instead of the content. Running away with the title, so to speak.
Man, this is a bunch of hippies having an art fair. There are women walking around with babies selling fruit and veggies. Should they be doing this, hell no. Do they need to get scooped up and have order restored, by all means. But this is no way as bad as people are making it out to be. I'd be pissed if I owned a business right there though.
Yep, its a love in during the day and probably fun and entertaining, but I think at night the crowd is different. The media overblown's everything, Yep there it is a snow flake just came down on the Sylvan overpass by golly. I feel bad for the business owners that haven't been able to make money off this event. Hell, I was at Haight & Ashbury the summer of love and business capitalized and police were welcome. The Hells Angles were there very few issues. The big difference? no internet, 24/7 news cycles. If issues broke out it got settled and people boogied onward. Didn't get replayed a thousand times in one day. We rolled another one, just like the other one...
