    AND if part of the protests are to come to terms with the past, George Washington did own human beings. Actual human beings.

    (And the whole "he released his slaves" thing........you know, if he did that when he was alive, we could talk. But come on: “Upon the decease of my wife, it is my Will and desire that all the Slaves which I hold in my own right, shall receive their freedom.” Lauding this is crazy absurd to me.)

    I don't know...why teardown a statue of George. Bet they wouldn't tear up the dollar bills in their pockets. I mean, burning the flag and toppling George out of anger just confuses the younger kids. Everyone kid in public school is taught that George Washington was basically a hero that fought and won our independence. If some young punk came onto my property and set my flag on fire I wouldn't put up with it.

    If there's a public process that decides what monuments to the past need to come down and which should remain, I'm fine with whatever that process decides. That said, I'm not okay with mob rule making these decisions. Looks like a case of destruction of public property pure and simple to me.

    Shit was built with public funds, but the artist kept the copyright so it can't be used without paying him. Bunch of bullshit, melt it down out of spite. Its in an ugly ass location too.

    Security guard, 18, is shot dead by California cops after 'producing a handgun' and 'running because he was scared' when police approached him outside auto-body shop while he was working
    • Andres Guardado, 18, was working outside an autobody shop in Gardena in LA
    • He allegedly noticed police patrolling the area and produced a handgun
    • Officers approached him and drew their weapons, at which point Guardado fled
    • Deputies chased Guardado before one opened fire, striking his upper torso
    • His heartbroken sister wept as she told reporters: 'I lost a part of me, it's empty'
    • Guardado's death comes after riots swept across the US against police brutality

    Fox11 also reports that the body shop owner told them LA county sheriff's investigators removed all surveillance footage from the shop before he could access it and left two of the three camera destroyed.
