Let's start with billionaires keeping tax shelters overseas in the Caymans or Cypress....the wealthiest in our nation are not paying enough tax..Trump won't even show his taxes......athletes will return and they will still pay taxes but money value is going to tank from what we're seeing....this next election will determine a lot when it comes to that.....we have enough in a bloated military budget to bail out our country until this is over....instead we build a fucking wall and start Space Force!

I don't really disagree with anything you just said. We most definitely need a smaller military budget (Which both fucking political parties never seem to end up reducing by much) AND we need certain billionaires to pay their fair share (Many do by the way)

But we can't rely on just that. Not with all the other government subsidies that are coming our way. I was no math major but even I can see that.

What is a Person of Color? White is the combination of all colors. Black is the absence of color. Just sayin'.

So I don't really give a shit what a game is nicknamed. That doesn't really mean anything. If a lot of people are offended by the term "Civil War" and that makes the schools want to get rid of that traditional nickname for the game, then go for it. That being said, acting like the U.S. Civil War between the Union and Confederacy is the only war ever to be called a civil war is absolute nationalist bullshit. It's so typically us (I would say American but even us calling ourselves American when there are well over 30 countries in the Americas is so incredibly nationalistic and self-centered) to think "our" civil war defines the term and the issues involved with and being fought over in that specific civil war are inseparable from the term civil war. A civil war is defined as a war between citizens of the same country... I'm going to add ANY COUNTRY just for clarity. Again, no big deal about not calling the UofO OSU game "the civil war", just wanted to vent about how ridiculous it is that we tend to think of things in terms only specific to the U.S.A.

I’m still gonna call it the civil war just like I say Rose Garden, it’s dumb to change it but they’re gonna do it anyway.

I suggest they call it The WARegon Derby

Oh and just so I'm clear I am all for canceling terms exclusively related to slavery and the antebellum south. That period of U.S. history, especially in that area is despicable and should never be celebrated, in my opinion. The Confederacy, regardless of people saying the war was not about slavery, were fighting to continue slavery. So I don't think that heritage when it even smells of a hint of slavery can be celebrated. Get rid of all government owned Confederate monuments, all government flags that celebrate that period and culture, and everything else (there's a whole lot of it) that oppresses black people or celebrates any part of that oppression.

What a tragedy that we might associate the game with a war that freed the slaves.

It's a common criticism, but few stop to ask what people around the globe refer to us by? It can't be self-centered if everyone uses the same term. It's just the term that stuck.

I’m trying to think of any other country in the America’s that have America in their actual country name like we do.

I couldn't think of any, so I looked it up: "The next country to use 'America' was the Federal Republic of Central America (now Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Costa Rica)." The linked article didn't show anything pertaining to the summary, but other articles said we're the only one.

I am so tired of this performative bullshit...

White people are doing things that no black person asked for, nor will it save ONE black life...

We will not accept platitudes and flowery language. We will not accept your performance art.

The only thing that we will accept is structural systemic change.

    Until then:

I’m calling it the Civil War.
There have literally been hundreds of them throughout history.

No, and I've always been against Sports / Athletes who use "war / military" terms and make it sound like they're a part of that. It's total garbage and disrespectful to people who have fought in actual wars (not just the US Military). Sorry but lining up to play a game no matter how much you've devoted yourself to it, is not War, they are not taking bullets for each other, and you aren't going to battle with your teammates, who next year will probably be on another team anyways all that stuff is just meant to stroke a bunch of athletes egos.
That said the "civil war" was obviously not named after the American Civil War, which happened on the other side of the country and Oregon as a state was basically non-existent in it. It's obviously a play on words because the schools are so close to each other. I don't care if they change it, but it's got nothing to do with progress, it's just the Oregon schools wanting to jump in on the current climate to say, hey we did something too, look how much we care.
