For everyone wondering why there doesn't seem to be much correlation between the protests and increases in COVID-19, the results of a recent study are interesting:

No, I'm not pinning it on the evolving nature of it. That is bound to happen as more is learned. I'm pinning it on that almost a daily basis a new "study" or some researcher comes out and says something and if it doesn't align with what the popular thought is of a certain group it is IMMEDIATELY rejected as *bs* by that group because it doesn't tell them what they wanted to hear, and from my POV I have seen it from both ends of the political spectrum.
Whether it's, "masks", "ventilators", "cures", "how dangerous it is", from my POV throwing out data, or research, or any of that before it's even really had time to sink in is anti-science. We could argue who agrees with "science" more the right or the led and sure I would probably buy that the right especially "Trump" and his followers are more apt to deny it, but my point is just that I personally see it both ways where "science" comes out that isn't popular and it's dismissed soooooo fast because it's not popular and people spend way more time trying to tell us why it's bad than figure out what data we can get from it.

So you think there's no difference in congregating with masks vs congregating without masks?

First,l I implied the mentality is head in the sand. I never said YOU have your head in the sand. You taking that personal now? lol.

Second, you have been abrahasive on here towards me much longer than this, so don't act like today you are all innocent. I only respond to you the way I do because you have conditioned me to do so.

Tortured gave his opinion and you said thats bunk. I said that's head in the sand, but you are all bent and insulted now? But saying his opiniion is bunk is not insulting?

Mana you have an interesting set of lines to follow......

And now I can piss off?

Fucking snowflakes are out today, but I must a missed the forecast. lol.

TBF....nothing related to the virus and the BLM movement has anything to do with "popularity".....just needed to point that out...rather than analyze our varying opinions why not just put yours out there in clear print and stand by them? Group alignment is what we saw in the world's response to racial profiling by our police....

Let's all maybe take it down a notch, including myself. No need to throw out generalized insults and get so heated over our opinions. We can talk and disagree on certain things, but I think we'd all agree that the current situation of COVID and the world is not what any of us really, "want". @wizenheimer I'll cool off too, if you feel insulted by my posts let me know and I'll go delete stuff.

Well... I'm not a Trump supporter...
But yes I think that there is a lot of politics involved in COVID, the science, the reporting, how it's portrayed, what information we have. There are a lot of people heavily invested in getting out their version of the truth for political gain. That is literally why Trump for a while had to go talk to the media every day because he wanted to spin it his way. The BLM stuff is an entirely different topic for a different thread...

Loosening of restrictions is that...loosening. For the most part, there are rules, there are precautions. Its not the wild west like with the protestors being in groups of 40,000 all day yelling. Spaced out. Wear a mask in a store or a restaurant. That's how it is. That's how we are going to open the economy.

But when you have these fucking dumbfuck protestors going out burning cities, shutting down blocks and blocks with tens of thousands of people, everyone else who stayed inside, postponed their lives, missed graduations, missed funerals and saying goodbye to love ones are like "Fuck this bullshit".

Beaches have been spaced out. Pools have been spaced out. Rules for capacity at pools, stores, restaurants, etc are in place. Sure, the bars and clubs opening back is retarded too.

But the BLM protestors went in and fucked it all up by throwing caution to the wind. They normalized breaking the rules and everyone doesn't give a fuck any more and will do whatever the fuck they want. They seem the Mayor of LA, not wearing a mask, going in the middle of thousands of protestors taking a knee, while at the same time telling you that you can't cut your hair or hang out with your friends.

you haven't insulted me since maybe my 7th from last CJ post, and that was about 47% justified

I get insulted every once in a while, type a pissed off response, think better of it, and delete the most pissed of part...like I did a little earlier

So, if we can congregate with masks on, we should be able to do whatever the fuck we want, as long as we have masks on? If we can cram 50k shouting, sweating, smelly people in a street with masks (for the most part), we should be able to go to a funeral or graduation or work or school or a trip, if we are wearing a mask.

looters and lowlifes do not represent BLM and cops killing blacks gave them no choice....this was a powder keg you are insulated from...please refrain from watering down it's purpose and connecting it to criminals who used it to create chaos....many who were white supremacists

This. Let's chill it. We are grown men. We can have conversation that doesn't de-evolve into immature insults. That doesn't mean we have to agree.

Opinions are like lips and assholes, we all have them and they are all different. That's ok.

Common ground is a good guide in conversation. Even if you can't agree you can find common ground. Like Tortured pointed out, that common ground is that none of us want this virus around. We all agree it is fucking up our country, our economy etc.
