Sounds like Malcolm was advocating for exactly what has happened over the past month--for the black community to join together take their needs into their own hands.

Jesus was not a white dude! He was middle eastern. He likely had darker olive sun tanned skin. He likely also did not have the long flowly hair we see in current depictions. It was probably curly and shorter.

I don't even understand why it matters what color Jesus was. The notion has never had even the slightest impact on my relationship with Him.

God spoke out of a burning bush--maybe He's actually green? Can we just go with that?

The bible is a book, or rather a collection of books written by men. Most of the stories are allegories. They were written many many years after the events told in them were to have happened.

And I not saying there wasn't a Jesus, or that all that stuff in the bible didn't happen. But, between the time events happened and the time they were recorded I am sure some of stories had evolved from what they originally were. Some were based in historical fact but were embellished or exaggerated by the time writers wrote them down.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I assume the "soft racism" would be assuming Jesus was white, when scripture doesn't say, rather than assuming he was non-white as people born in that region would likely be.

I'm not referring to you, because I have no idea whether you assume Jesus is white--but that's how the vast majority of depictions of him go.

And if that were the case, then perhaps that would be a reasonable reply to a post containing something that would qualify. Nothing in my post reasonably should.

I'm not a Democrat. And liberal then didn't mean the same thing as it did when FDR was president. Liberal now means something completely different. Liberals aren't socialists. I'm not a Liberal. Joe Biden is a liberal and that MF might as well be Republican.

But back then Malcolm X was talking about the same people MLK was talking about. Those that prefer order over justice. Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer types.

    We have a winner.

The assumption that he was white sure is racist. Remember racism has levels, but it requires a system of oppression. And the white Jesus and that bible certainly was involved with the system of control and oppression. Which is why black people can be bias against skin tone but cannot be racist.

And lo and behold they're are going to change the meaning.

It's really hard to define Liberal, socialist, conservative, and all of that because the meaning of those words seems to be somewhat fluid and seem to mean different things to different people, and I agree what Malcolm X was talking about has shifted since the 1960s. I'm not a Republican or a Democrat.
I don't feel like I need to throw Black people a box on Twitter and pretend I'm doing something to help them. I kind of feel like ultimately what white people need to do is get out of the way, mostly our racist systems and systems that are easily corruptible. Those are what's in their way from prospering. I wasn't really quoting that 'at' you, just saying that I think what really bugs me is how many people politicians, corporations, or in this case the Oregon schools, there are a lot of white people behind that stuff that are using it entirely to better themselves and not black people. Not an 'ally' to BLM if you're doing PR stuff for your bottom line and acting like you're doing it to help Black people.

MM did and you gave him cover.

Just like there were pre-Columbian Mariners from Africa hundreds of years before Columbus "discovered" this place, Jesus was black.

You said I could post this!!! Thief! :)

Its the depiction or assertion of Whites that A man of middle Eastern Decent is now White in order to potentially better fit their comfort zone, rather than having to admit that the person being worshipped was of a different color.

Blood runs and looks the same, but when we are talking about a depiction of a person, we should be accurate in their portrayal, or its like a slap in the face to all that are the same as him.

I've witnessed a Black person be completely degraded for walling up a picture of a dark skinned Jesus. I had to step in and tell them to shut thier hole.

MM did nothing of the sort. MM said no one knows, but most likely olive skinned. YOU are the one claiming he was a certain color

I think it's pretty obvious the bible was written dow by cloistered European monks and they gentrified Jesus.....he's Palestinian....no way he looked like Tom Cruise in Rock Star...and quoting the old testament concerning him being "fairer" doesn't make any sense at all...different period of history the time of David compared to the birth of Jesus

Imma need you to stop whitewashing Dr Dr King's legacy and SHAME on you for doing it!

Martin Luther King was an enemy to white people. He peacefully marched and white folk killed them for it. Let's not forget how Martin Luther King died. The gunshot wound did not kill him. He was smothered in the hospital by his fucking doctor. Then nobody talks about how his mother was killed months later... So don't tell people how they are supposed to respond to an oppression that you have never felt and never will feel. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for doing what white people have done for decades... Whitewashing his legacy... White people didn't like Martin Luther King! They HATED him so let's not pretend like he wasn't being watched by the FBI...

And for every Martin Luther King Jr. Quote you look up I can find one too... 20200702_105614.jpg

You certainly implied it. Saying he was fair skinned.
