I remember when it was built and all the hoopla. Yesterday's state of the art facilities are todays old decrepit dinosaurs. How much older was it than the Rose Garden?
I think it was like 88 or 89. I remember having an old NBA Digest, or some other basketball magazine, that had huge articles on the Palace, the "New"Arco Arena, something on the Spurs and Bucks arenas too. So weird to think that was 30+ years ago.
I went to a Blazers game there once. Not really a palace, but I'm a little bit surprised it won the implosion lottery. barfo
The Whole Foods I shop at is right by the Palace so I've been watching it being disassembled over the past few months.
barfo at a "blazers game" at the Palace. "I would like a beer please" "sir, this is a 7-11" "And I would like a beer, please"
I haven't seen a demolition that controlled since Building 7 went down many hours after the others on 9/11.
WHY DO YOU THINK IT WAS CALLED THE PALACE? THERE WAS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF GOLD UNDERNEATH IT. THE GOVERNMENT DID 6/12. BARFO
That fake gold story again! Those conspiracy jokers must have hacked Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Trade_Center_(1973–2001)#Other_buildings
Jinx, they played in the Pontiac Silverdome, I believe while they were building the Palace. A lot of those early Zeke highlights are in the Dome with curtains in the background.
