Are you assuming that all people of Bol Bol's ethnicity look the same?

Nope. To say that a black human being resembles an inanimate object, not to mention a bundle of sticks, a Nazi imagery for the way people were bundled to be killed, is as racist as you can get.

I trust you'll campaign to stop the use of the term "Statue of Liberty Dunk" then.

When did I say anything about campaigning? At least the Statue of Liberty is the image of a person. When racism is pointed out, one should simply say sorry instead of deny deny deny. It was racist, dude. We’re all a little bit racist. Do some introspection.

Also with Statue of Liberty dunk you’re describing the dunk, not the person.

Look: I get your point. It is very questionable to refer to historically oppressed peoples using dehumanizing terms. And it's entirely possible that my comparison was racist. But: first of all, "inanimate" is a red herring. You can compare anyone to the sun or a flower (or a statue) without it being insulting. You mean "dehumanizing" - like the Nazi tactic of referring to Jews as rats or cockroaches. And second, I think you inferred that I picked twigs because they're dark colored. I did not: I would refer to Shawn Bradley the same way (perhaps they'd have to be birch twigs in his case).
Finally: your "brand" of hyperbole is unhelpful in discussions of racism. If a person of color told me it was not okay or that I'd crossed a line, I would take it a lot more seriously, and definitely delete the post.

I thought this was a reference to his long and thin physique - I am not a person of color - so I really can not tell you if someone else would consider it racist - but it certainly did not bring this image to my mind nor am I aware of any connotations of that nature. I think this was an inappropriate call on Rasta - and were I Eric, I would apologize to him unless he can show the term used as a racist slur.

He didn't say he was tall and skinny. He compared him to a bundle of sticks. Rasta gets it. No need to further discuss.

It was not racist at all. I do not believe calling someone a bundle of sticks is a racist term. Probably demeaning, but not racist.

Just because it didn't offend you, that doesn't make it not racist.

It is not racist because it was not about the race of the individual - but his physique which is shared with many races. Words have meanings - it is usually a good idea to use them appropriately when you accuse others of things.

I would still say that if someone should apologize here, it is you.
