They used every team’s regular schedule and chose by that order from the teams in the bubble. The Pelicans were lucky in that they had more games coming up against the weaker bubble teams.

Doesn’t matter. Pels aren’t playing Zion like they should anyway.

The league isn’t pushing anything. But this IS the reason why EVERY team should have been invited, so the teams could have finished off the season playing the schedule they were supposed to......and all the teams would have ended up playing the full 82 game schedule.

If I'm the Pelicans, I'm going to play him slowly and not rush it. Even if he's "ready", he hasn't proven he can play a full season yet.

Their GM is NOT having it. He does not want to allow him to go full speed this season. I’m quite sure Gentry wants him out there for 40 minutes.

It’s too because he’s a mismatch against anybody you put on him.

Of all the teams fighting for the 8th spot, Portland had by far the most games against the 8 teams not in Orlando. Then you combine that with the fact they've already played all their games against NO, SA, Sac, Phx, Orl, and Was it makes it seem like they're being screwed but it's just what happens when you remove those teams and are left with just tough games.

At the same time, he's a liability on defense at this point. I think I saw he was -16 when on the floor versus Utah....

But with that said, it does totally screw us. We played all of the decent teams but still had a bunch of games against the worst or the worst so those teams that already got to pad their win total against the worst definitely have the advantage. It won't matter because Memphis, Sac, NOLA and SA will all be around .500 in the bubble despite having to play the easier teams in the bubble. First of all most of those games are against each other and second of all when you play teams that you have the same record as, you tend to have the same odds of winning that game 50%. Whereas I sincerely believe our team is much better than we were before the break. We traded Ariza for Zach and Nurk... that's a huge net positive. So we should have a much better chance to win games we weren't winning prior to the stop. So I guess the restart didn't truly screw us even though Zach and Nurk would have been back soon anyway.

I don't get what's going on with zion. He leaves the bubble then they restrict him when he comes back. Griff is trying super hard to convince that this is the plan all along. Wtf? He ain't hurt so why is he restricted? Anyone care to enlighten?

Yeah it is weird. He may have let his conditioning go really bad during the break and then not participated or worked hard to get it back before Orlando and then skipped the "training camp" part of Orlando. So maybe they are afraid that with his previous injuries and bad conditioning he will hurt himself again but that's all conjecture on my part, maybe someone in here has some inside info.

Before restart, Pels remaining opponents were a combined 147 games below .500

    Ours were 25 games below.

This will give you no hard info to go off of but it will bring you comfort to know that you and Ja Rule are on the same page.

Yeah, it's bullshit. If they were doing this restart without all of the teams (like they did) then they should have scrapped what earlier schedules looked like and either tried to make everyone's strength of schedule the same or not worry about opponents and just try to make everyone's strength of schedule what it would have been if the regular season would have been finished. This, "lets make sure they play the available teams they would have played" strategy is fucked. IMHO.

However if we do win the majority of our games, which will be tough, we will know we are ready for the playoffs... the Pels can't say that, now can they.

Here's a comparison of the teams that Memphis and Portland had removed from their respective schedules by the shortened bubble format:

    Memphis Grizzlies
    NO(H), Toronto(A), NY(H), Dallas(H), Portland(A), Denver(A), OKC(H), Philadelphia(H), Houston(A), Portland(A)

    Portland Trail Blazers
    Minnesota(H), Minnesota(A), Charlotte(A), Detroit(A), Utah(H), Memphis(H), Cleveland(H), GSW(A), Memphis(H)

The closest thing Memphis had in that list to a gimmee was the Knicks. The Blazers had clear advantages over Minnesota (x2), Charlotte, Detroit, Cleveland, and the Warriors. The two games against the Grizzlies in Portland? Yeah, I like our chances there as well.
