This reminded me (duh) of the short guards combo that we never think of when looking for comparisons for Dame and CJ: Stockton and Hornacek. They did pretty well, as I recall.

Nobody can keep shooting like this and once he has a bad stretch of games...out come the pitchforks and torches. Just wait.

So true. Right now he is shooting the 3ball at a HOF percentage. Some sort of drop off is inevitable. Maybe even a horrible slump.
Regardless of when that happens....he's a keeper.

Gary Trent Sr was awesome when he filled in as the starting PF for Sheed or Grant injury.... just a total beast. He was young too with potential to improve. His career never really took that next step. He probably gave up a lot defensively that nobody focused on years ago like today.

We really had a string of amazing PF play from Buck, Cliff, Sheed, Trent, Grant, Jermaine, ZBo.

I wasn't going that recent... Aldridge was very good for us for almost a decade but we didn't have multiple great PF during his time as we did with the prior 20 years.

I don't think the pitchforks come out. I think when he sees a slump he'll defer to whoever has the hot hand and then there's the fact that he is always going to be a really solid defender if not a lock down defender. For the record Gary's shot is so nice, I don't see him being a streaky shooter, I know he'll come back down to earth and shoot at a lower percentage but I don't think it will ever dip so low that people will want him benched.

If, and it’s a highly unlikely if, but if he keeps shooting like he has been lately, GT2 is looking like he could be pushing towards Klay Thompson territory. If he falls back to earth a bit, he’s more likely in Wesley Matthews’ neighborhood. Either way, he gives Olshey options to make moves to improve the team.

Okay GTJ seems to have come back to earth with his shot, but is still playing great defense. The one complaint I have is it seems like at least once a game he tries to get a offense foul called on the guy he is guarding and he is not getting those calls and ends up scrambling off the floor and out of position. Kind of like Dame always trying to get the foul on three point shots, sometimes it is just not needed.

We must re-sign him this summer, we can't let him test free agency like Crabbe.

Olshey always talks about the culture and the fact that players who are on our roster are players who wants to be here so for one damn time i would like to see a player say "hey, i really love Portland and the organization, i will take a discount to stay here"... maybe only Hood did it but it wasn't a long term deal like the one i would hope Trent sign.

Yesterday he was huge at both ends of the floor at the end of the game.
