    Hello darkness, my old friend
Oh man. If people think mail-in voting is fraudulent, they'll flip out over voting online. That said, I don't think very many Republicans actually believe mail-in voting is fraudulent--they know (and have admitted once in a while) that more people voting is worse for them. That's why they almost universally oppose measures to make voting easier.

I think secure voting online would be fine. We already have hackable voting machines, so it's not like we don't already live under the specter of hacking.

It's funny how they come up with such fake sounding reasons why mail in voting is bad. Rusher, Chiner, and other countries will come up with fake ballots (project much??) ..but they're perfectly fine with the voting machines.

Look at Oregon, they've had literally 20+ years of vote by mail and the # of fraudulent cases is minuscule and the only issues that might come up are explicitly caused by the shit Trump is doing to the USPS.

Almost as if he's doing that on purpose to poison the well...no, he'd never do that.

There’s no such thing as the ‘perfect fix’ for secure voting. Was just throwing out the idea because of COVID, and as a nerd I like the idea of online voting with enough safe guards and such to try to make it secure.
I think there is cheating and voter fraud with in-person or mail in voting. Im not sure how much, but I think it happens, and will probably always happen.

Mail in voting protects people from Covid-19. This is something our government would normally be concerned with if they knew their asses from holes in the ground.

When looking at any kind of cheating you have to look at the incentive. There is just no incentive to take a chance on some real jail time to add a vote or two for your candidate. Add to that all the fraud in illegal voting they've found in the last 20 years, slim to none. Where's the problem?

There is voter fraud, both in mail and in-person. The incentive is power / getting your way.

Might not be big, might be bigger than what they tell us I dont know, but the incentive is pretty obvious...

Of all the things you can go to prison for, getting a couple extra votes for one election would be pretty low on my list.

I mean even if you did I'm not sure the competence of the US would be capable of proving it.

Well if I made Trump win and got caught he'd just pardon me, guess there's that.

All I said was, I think the USPS can be funded by other means. You're simply not listening.

You do realize the USPS receives ZERO tax dollars, right? (https://facts.usps.com/top-facts/)

They are 100% self funded. So where exactly are they to receive this other funding?

Because you see, they already receive it from the sale of stamps. You know, other means.

You also realize that a big reason why the USPS loses money is because they were forced to pre-fund their retirement plans for 75 years, right? A plan that was forced on them by a Republican lead congress, and signed by a Republican President.

Also, having a Republican President sabotage their business (Trump), in a glorified ponzi scheme?

Because I'm starting to think you don't know any of these facts, and just repeat misinformation about it because you think it make you sound fiscally smart and also gives you another opportunity to rationalize your love for all things Donald Trump.

Try to educate yourself on stuff. Please.

They do. It's not stupidity, it's deliberate voter suppression. And if disabled vets can't get meds, seniors can't get social security checks, businesses can't get orders to customers, collateral damage. D

Nice stab, but doesn't change my opinion in any way regarding adding USPS funding to a stimulus bill. The USPS has operated for eons, and will continue to do so. Moreover, voting could be handled in a way to include social distancing. There's plenty of time to accomplish that. Like most things these days, this has become a political stunt by the dems in their hatred for Trump.

Try not to insult me. Please.

Look at it another way. Which would tempt you more, a bundle of $100 dollar bills lying on a busy street or slipping an extra vote in for your man? In the first case the temptation is obvious. In the second case I see no temptation whatsoever. of course, that's just the common sense approach and there may be other approaches where common sense doesn't apply. I think it's more appropriate to let our far Right friends think of other approaches that defy common sense.
