youtube is another unreliable source. Videos can and do get doctored.
The Blaze is famous for posting crap.
Glenn Beck is an idiot who says bullshit that his base wants to hear, period!

Yeah the spotless records of CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC, etc.
The media is all terrible, and lies, and it's doctored and we will do our best to create ad hominem fallacies and discredit any information that doesn't hit our confirmation bias in a way we like.
If it does say what we want though, it's a beautiful sound and sight to our eyes and ears.
They're all telling their bases what they want to hear. Don't kid yourself on that.

It's even better when they are big enough they can start having their buddies give them awards for excellent journalism!

Look at awards for journalism excellence as a guide on what is good and what is not good journalism.

"2020: CNN's Ed Lavandera was awarded a Peabody for "The Hidden Workforce: Undocumented in America." CNN Films was awarded a Peabody for the documentary "Apollo 11."

2019: The USC Annenberg School awarded CNN with a Walter Cronkite Award for its Parkland Town Hall.

2018: CNN won a network-record six news & documentary Emmy Awards. They are, Outstanding Breaking News Coverage, Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a Newscast, Outstanding Live Interview, Outstanding Hard News Feature Story in a Newscast, Outstanding News Special, Outstanding Science, Medical and Environmental Report.

2018: CNN's Nima Elbagir to receive 2018 Courage in Journalism Award from the International Women's Media Foundation.

2018: CNN received the George Polk Award for Foreign Television Reporting for uncovering a hidden modern-day slave auction of African refugees in Libya. Reporting done by Nima Elbagir and Raja Razek.

2018: CNN received the Overseas Press Club of America David Kaplan Award for best TV or video spot news reporting from abroad for reporting on the fall of ISIS. Reporting done by Nick Paton Walsh and Arwa Damon.

2017: CNN received the Prince Rainier III Special Prize at Monte Carlo TV Festival for the documentary, Midway: A Plastic Island about sea pollution.

1998: CNN received the Four Freedom Award for the Freedom of Speech."

MSNBC, Fox News and ABC News appear to have no awards.

Proving if you have the right friends you can win interpretive/subjective awards. Like the Emmy's and Golden Globes, and Oscars and all that circle jerk has always been.

It probably comes across as rude, but seriously you worked for Boeing. You ever go to one of those PNDC events where they just give all these awards to people they like? I don't really think we can just say well they won journalism awards that means their credible. You're free to believe CNN in all it's glory as much as you want. I'm not going to even try to interfere with that.
I'm just as free to not believe them though, and let's be real CNN like many other media outlets have been caught telling people bullcrap.
I mean I know it's just a stupid wiki, but you also posted a wiki about blaze, and I'm not defending Blaze either.

It's the organizations formed and moderated by the better than average journalists that I'm thinking of. Try the Pulitzer and the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards and the Peabody Awards among others.

This thread should be about a Black man who lost his life when he didn't need to. I can and probably will argue with you about awards and politics and the media in some other thread but I'm not going to continue this discussion here.

    1. You didn't bring up Blaze and I didn't respond to any such fictitious remark about Blaze by you. That was someone else who brought up Blaze that I responded to;
    2. There must be some awards somewhere in the world where honest people try to single out people for journalism excellence. Are they all full of shit?
    3. I'm not trying to force you to believe anything. I'm trying to convince you using intelligent reasoning why there are important awards and that the world is not full of total shit none of which can be trusted. Should I fail to do so we'll just have to leave it at that.
    4. At Boeing, the only meetings I attended were work related. My group did win an award one time for some sort of accomplishment but I can't recall what it was. I do recall the fishing rod and reel that I was awarded. Didn't affect my sincere effort to build the best airplanes and missiles in the world. I also recall a motivational banquet in our office attended by the Sea hawks legendary tight end, Steve Largent. They had all sorts of delicious smelling hot food but they closed the room to our group and we were not allowed to attend. Kind of pissed me off. So, I'm unfamiliar with any experience you describe that I must have attended. Nope, should have checked with me first. What the hell is a PNDC?
I also worked for Tektronix for 14 years and never attended nor heard of any awards banquets. We did have monthy Area Represetative meetings attended by the company President. I kept getting voted in as the Area Rep for a total of 3 years even though the company had a limit of one year. I really didn't want the job more than the one year. Also got voted in as the Union Area Representative for the engineers in my group at Boeing but it was just the one year. Tektronix had no unions to speak of so their Area Reps were pseudo union like.

Okay, wanna drop it? Fine, I've got more valuable things to do with my time than beat a dead horse.

PNDC is the pacific northwest defense coalition. They always drag a bunch of engineers into whats basically sales stuff and bloviate about how awesome everyones doing. Boeing is often a big portion of it. They always give away pretty much meaningless awards. I dont mind expanding this conversation more, but it needs to be in a different thread. @SlyPokerDog do you mind creating another thread or I’ll do it when Im on my PC later.
I dont want to continue this conversation in this thread because while others may take this thread to wherever they want, I think this thread is about a Black mans death and its disrespectful to turn that into an argument about other stuff.

I didn't start this so let's get that straight.
Am I willing to return the conversation to the original intent? Yes, yes, yes, I'm tired of any conversation that goes nowhere.

I didn't mean to imply that you did start it. I was probably the one at fault if someone needs to be blamed.
I mean were commenting on a forum none of this really goes anywhere lol. :)

Corporate owned media feed the people corporate views so the people will keep following corporate owned candidates.

Our media is used to sway peoples opinions: for their wars, or a political party, even their products: Coke or Pepsi. Basically our media, here in the U.S., is used as psychological weapon against us.

    (just my two cents)

Everyone and everything is corrupt, nothing means anything, all achievements are tainted if not outright lies, you cannot trust anyone about anything, and life itself is a meaningless waste of time and energy.

There, some of you can copy and paste the above, it'll save you a lot of typing.

Maybe we should all live by the Pirate's Creed of Ethics:

    1. Ye Captain shall have full command during the time of engagement, and shall have authority at all other times to conduct the ship accordingly. He who disobeys him may be punished unless the majority vote against the punishment.

    2. If ye Captain's vessel is shipwrecked, the crew pledges to remain until he has possessed himself of a vessel. If the vessel is the common property of the crew, the first vessel captured shall belong to ye Captain with one share of the spoil.

    3. Ye ship's surgeon shall have two hundred crowns for the maintenance of his medicine chest and he shall receive one part of the spoil.

    4. Ye other officers will receive each a single part, and if ye distinguish yourself, the crew will determine how much reward to be given to ye.

    5. Ye spoil taken from a captured ship is to be distributed in equal portion.

    6. Ye who shall be the first to signal the appearance of the vessel that is captured, shall receive one hundred crowns.

    7. If ye lose an eye, or hand or leg in ye said service, ye shall receive up to six slaves or six hundred crowns.

    8. Ye supplies and rations are to be shared equally.

    9. If ye introduce on board a woman in disguise, ye shall be punished by death.

    10. If one Brother steals from another, his nose or ears are to be cut off. If he sins again, he is to be given a musket, bullets, lead and a bottle of water and marooned on an island.

    11. If there is any doubt in a dispute between ye Brothers, a court of honour is to decide the verdict. If a Brother is proved in the wrong, the first time he shall be pardoned, but should he offend again, he shall be tied to a gun, and there shall receive from each of the ship's company one strike of the lash. The same punishment shall be given to ye among us, including officers who shall get drunk, while on the ship, to the point of losing ye senses.

    12. Whoever shall be placed on sentry, and upon his post shall go to sleep, shall in the first case be lashed by all the Brothers, and should he again offend, his head shall be split.

    13. All ye who shall plot to desert, or having deserted shall be captured, shall have ye heads split open.

    14. Quarrels between several Brothers whilst aboard ye ship shall be settled ashore with pistol and sword. He that draws first blood shall be victor. No striking another whilst aboard ye ship.
