You ever notice that the people who have the most ardent, angry and out of touch with reality views on the city of Portland (and how it's being run) tend to be those who don't actually live in the city of Portland? Almost as if they've gotten their information from the same source that is conning them and they believe it.
You are the one who actually said he was an "abject failure" but has given no evidence outside of "my confirmation bias says so". Meanwhile, I actually said I didn't like how he (and the city) has handled the homeless situation and allowing protest groups to do all sorts of shit in a small section of downtown Portland. It's like you don't even want to engage in an actual conversation about it, but just repeat talking points that sound like it makes you appear smart. What has Wheeler done that YOU PERSONALLY think makes him an "abject failure"? Not "my family said this", but what YOU think. Otherwise, you're just talking out of your ass, and thinking that you are somehow actually being the one who is presenting sound arguments.
I wasn’t talking about the police. I was talking about sympathizers like Wheeler and Brown. They’re expecting police from other counties to come help all of the sudden after they’ve given their own police no power to do anything and allowed the situation to spin out of control. Why would other police want to throw themselves into a mess to help out a mayor or governor that showed zero accountability and basically incubated the entire problem?
Because those are their brothers out there battling every night and should have their back. I honestly can't believe they aren't going to support them.
I would say that Wheeler and the governor, and well most Democratic leaders around the country, are struggling right now between the need to recognize the BLM cause, start the move towards social justice reforms, etc. vs having some reasonable line between legitimate protest and unlawful vandalism/rioting. There’s a whole lot of left wing paralysis right now. Trump senses the divide and, being the self-seeking a-hole that he is, is willing to feed the fires in the hopes that people’s fears will get him re-elected. Biden is trying to support the protest but denounce the violence. In short, it’s a dreadful dance of ineptitude at all levels.
The absolute mayhem in Portland, in and of itself, makes him an abject failure in my book. This should NEVER have come this far and even his own party is leveling harsh pushback against the man. This is 2020. You really think because I live in Nashville I can't understand what is going on out there? Portland is becoming the laughingstock of the nation as it pertains to civil unrest, etc. Shameful. And Wheeler could've taken a stand a LONG time ago! you aren't giving examples, you're just saying catch phrases. Give examples of the "absolute mayhem" in Portland that he is the reason for. You aren't in the city, you aren't walking in the city, you aren't driving through the city. you aren't experiencing FIRST HAND what is happening. So yes, I think you living in Nashville means you can't understand what is actually going on in Portland. NO more than I can understand what is happening in Flint Mich, because the portrayal is not what is actually happening.
