People are talking trade, not FA. I personally think Aldridge would’ve helped us matchup with AD.

Its not a guarantee that Aldridge is worth more to a 3rd team than cap savings and a mid first round pick. Perhaps you are right in your guess of such. We will ultimately see his value if Aldridge is traded.

Many Blazers fans would argue a Whiteside and pick is overpaying for Aldridge.

If you believe Aldridge clearly has higher value than that, I guess the Blazers could throw in a second first round pick.

There is some sort of middle ground where the cost to the Blazers and value to Spurs may meet, that is where a trade would happen.

You don’t think he did? They got to the western conference finals with him, he has couple all star appearances, what else can he do

On the Miami front I totally could see them targeting Derozen as option 2 this summer. They have cap to spend with no good free agents this summer, but don't want to lock up contracts beyond one season out of dreams of signing Giannis or such in 2021.

Obviously their focus is on the playoffs right now though.

Win a playoff series last year? Make playoffs this year?

Are you saying you think that was a failing on Pop?

I think we just saw the max out of LMA, there isn't some magical untapped abilities a coach is holding back.

Honestly Stotts wasn't terribly different in what he got out of LMA from Pop. We never saw some LaMonster MVP that some posters feared when he left to SAS.

Now his prime is well behind him, I'm not sure he's even a fulltime starter.

He's been a quite a bit more efficient under Pop. Even had a year at 25 PER.

Calling him a bench player is quite the stretch assuming he doesn't drop off a cliff next year. I'd love to have a 20/8 on 20 PER as a starter, but I do think his best and only position at this point is as a center.

He is a Center but I will say the Nurk/LA Twin Towers would be much more effective than what we were forced to watch with Nurk/HW.

If Nurk/Whiteside is the standard we compare things to then we can forget about winning a championship.

Hell I think Nurk and Ed Davis would be better than the Nurk/Whiteside shitshow.

I dont think we will get any one specific player... odds are always against that. But I'd say Aldridge is certainly on the list of 10-20 or so players where trade possibilities could happen if other possible events happen first.

Its stupid to say an Aldridge trade for sure will happen. It's also stupid to say for sure it won't happen.

Yeah I'd much rather have had LMA than Wenyen 6 fouls in 4 minutes Gabriel.

The Whiteside Nurk pairing was fun for a few minutes but seemed like more of a joke.

I saw this thread and expected it to be some “who dat” website... Turns out that’s the case.

But still I opened it wondering if it would be like “oh shhhhhiitttt, okay here it is” because I can honestly see LMA back in a Blazers Jersey w/ Dame.

I can all but guarantee you that there is a Part of LA which wonders what it would be like if he had stayed here.

I know what people are talking about. It won't happen via trade. Aldridge makes too much for us to realistically match his salary in a trade because we don't have a lot of tradeable contracts.

Anyone saying sign-and-trade Whiteside doesn't understand how sign-and-trades work.

No it's not, we literally don't have the right contracts to trade for him without gutting the entire team or trading CJ or Nurk.

We can't sign-and-trade Whiteside to another team like is being suggested here.

So yes I can say with absolute certainty that we will not trade for Aldridge this summer.

Ariza + Hood or Zach + any one of Mario/Little/Simons actually works.

Why do you say we can’t sign-and-trade Whiteside for him? It looks to me like all of the conditions in the CBA FAQ are met. Am I missing something?

Are we gutting it though? Ariza + Hood + Little played about none of the seeding games + playoffs. Simons and Mario were net negatives every time they touched the court. Really doesn't seem like we lose a lot to me.

I'm not arguing that we should trade for Aldridge, but the idea that it's impossible.....I don't agree with that.

You are correct, Ariza Hood Mario works.

I consider Hood and Mario worthless, maybe Ariza legal troubles end up being something the jail Blazers dont want.
