These fire fighters regardless of political affiliation are hero's and deserve much respect from all. They put it on the line that we can be safe.
Yeah, interesting that people chose to build cities in the fertile valley west of the cascades. And that forest fires happen in the forests. Kinda nuts. barfo
The right-wing ones, who according to the media, are as numerous as the leftist ones and represent the majority of Portland? Hmm. Could be. Yes, I could go for this theory.
I read that the Medford and Ashland fires were started by arsonists...they believe a dead guy found close to the source started one...the other guy is a tweaker under arrest today...he was high on meth when arrested....most reports beyond that say trees knocking down power lines started our fires mixed with some lightening but they believe most were power lines so they shut off the grid for days to stop any more from happening. My son took our grandson and grandawgs and a cat to Bend yesterday morning and the air was only 150 hazzard index compared to 450 in Eugene.....today Bend has an over 500 rate and Eugen is still at 475...he had good air for one day up there
so far, there has been one arrest for arson. That's for the fire that burned Talent and Phoenix. Reportedly, it was a meth addict arrested e-blazer posted a link to an article earlier that had an interesting and somewhat frightening section: " The biggest concern about the Riverside Fire and Beachie Creek Fire is that they could merge, Holly Krake, public information officer with the Riverside Fire, said Friday morning. The fires were about 1 air mile apart, but they could merge if fire growth continues. The concern about those fires merging is rooted in smoke. In general, if smoke plumes from two massive fires converge, it has the potential to create “plume dominated” fire behavior. This behavior is marked on the ground by down draft winds, erratic wind shifts and plunging humidity. Essentially, the fire could have its own weather. These conditions can limit the ability for firefighters to combat the blaze directly and puts any towns in the fire’s path at greater risk. Fuels in the Mt. Hood National Forest – where the fire is burning – are already at record dryness levels. “You combine extremely dry fuels, erratic winds, a fire creating its own weather conditions, it can lead to some of those extreme fire behaviors that just aren’t safe,” Krake said. On Thursday, the fire’s intensity led officials to pull back all firefighting and emergency personnel for about two hours." https://www.statesmanjournal.com/st...molalla-scotts-mills-silver-falls/3466813001/ it's supposed to start raining, some, on Tuesday, but that seems like a long time away considering the past 3 days
Curious if the President has mentioned this travesty at all? He sends troops to Oregon to save us when we don’t need it...... and nope when we do......crickets. Couldn’t have scripted this if you tried.
you should see some of the messages we’ve seen at the winery. We had to evac due to the fires and received some harsh messages. They talk on the news so heavily about the riots that weren’t riots and send the Feds in.... but nobody knows about the biggest wildfires on record in modern Oregon history. We had folks upset we were closed and/or not responding to the emails and phone messages promptly enough. Ok?
My heart and best wishes go out to Kjironman 1, Riverman and their families. Good luck all, especially Oregonians in the wake of the fire path, it's toxins and all life affected by this awful fire.
Well, he hasn't been totally silent on the subject..... https://www.statesmanjournal.com/st...se-approves-emergency-declaration/3471353001/ The White House on Friday approved Oregon’s request for an emergency declaration in response to the state’s wildfires, allowing counties like Marion County to receive reimbursement from FEMA for the money it is spending......... ......Gov. Kate Brown requested the emergency declaration Wednesday and the state's senators and representatives pressed the White House in the days that followed for him to approve the aid. Brown confirmed that she spoke with President Donald Trump Thursday and informed him the situation was “extremely dire.” “He promised us all of his support, and we are working to make sure that all the resources and people power that we need is provided," Brown said......... ........Approval of the FEMA funds means that direct federal assistance will be available at 75% for funding in Oregon counties including Marion and Clackamas impacted by wildfires. “This isn’t our first rodeo, unfortunately, with disasters,” U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader said. “The name of the game is make sure that you account for absolutely everything so that we can maximize the aid we can get you so you can truly get reimbursed for all of the up-front costs....... With conditions in impacted Santiam Canyon communities like Gates and Mill City still too volatile to visit, Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and Rep. Schrader toured the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem Friday along with a host of local leaders. They saw some of the hundreds of people and animals staying at the fairgrounds because they can’t return to their homes. “That will help us help them hopefully in short order.”...... “I think the president’s emergency step is a good start,” Wyden said. “It makes it clear that people are going to get individual assistance associated with them being safe. “But there’s a long, long way to go, and that’s what I’m involved in. My last stop was to determine that the senior citizens are going to be safe. So many families have said, what’s going to happen to grandma? I was able to make sure that the Red Cross said they can stay here until they go home.”
I bet that Trump only said something because he had too. Besides he's probably pissed that his buddy's Barack & Joe beat him to it!
after the executive order to transfer fema monies to support unemployment, the FEMA reserves are looking pretty skinny considering the atlantic hurricane season is not over yet
Yeah, as we all know, he hates Oregon, Washington, California and all related ilk. He'd prefer the entire west coast drop off into the ocean. Then he'd win for sures!
He's not wrong. This isn't Star Wars or some sort of crime novel. EVERYTHING that happens, paranoiacs (mostly from the right, honestly) make up these stories: wuhan flu was made in a lab despite OVERWHELMING evidence this isn't true; antifa is flying around the country, somehow in the shadows all these years, now emerging to sew chaos; the fires are intentional and antifa again; conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy... It is unhealthy. It is NOT free thinking to jump to conclusions that fit some qanon world. Anyone can say anything, but it doesn't make it true. BUT that doesn't mean that there aren't nefarious things going on (see federal agents pulling people off the street [ironically an ACTUAL conspiracy]). The thing is, these "questions" people ask--"could it be activist arsonists, I'm just asking"--a tactic often employed by Prince Trumperdinck, are nothing more than toxic seeds thrown into the wind and sprout like weeds. It's irresponsible and cringingly embarrassing and you should stop. It takes discipline but we all have to return to evidence-based accusations, if we are going to ever get along. Enough anecdotal, my-nephew-knows-a-guy stuff, my-gut-tells-me, etc. Maybe antifa is a super army in the shadows that for some reason burns the part of the country that most supports what they support. Sure maybe, but maybe not. The point is we should wait for information, data, and whathaveyou before we jump to conclusions, otherwise you just become part of the problem. Furthermore, there are people DYING and losing everything out there. That's where our focus should be. In reality.
