First, Trump campaign has legal right to request recount in Wisconsin. They have no legal right to ask Supreme Court to stop counting ballots.

All due respect to @e_blazer but I disagree on Senate. Sure, maybe 50 years ago divided government kept one party from going off into la la land; if Democrats held presidency and House and Republicans the Senate, maybe Democrats would get 2/3 of what they want and Republicans 1/3, more or less, because both parties wanted to keep the country running so would try to work together.

That ended in the mid-90s. When Newt Gingrich became Speaker, he declared a political opponent was not an American with whom one disagreed but a deadly enemy to be crushed, no holds barred. At the same time was the rise in right wing radio/TV all over the airwaves amplifying the message.

Remember when President Obama was elected, decisively, with Democrats holding majority in Senate and House. Many in the coalition wanted Democrats to use their unitary power to pass progressive legislation but Obama balked because he wanted to try to win over Republicans. The very day of his inauguration, McConnell met with Senate Republicans to discuss blocking his entire agenda. At a time when country was in midst of Great Recession, millions losing jobs and health care, families losing homes, two wars going on with no end in sight, his stated priority was denying Obama a second term. Many progressives were dismayed when Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, a white male moderate, but Obama hoped by naming a moderate with stellar credentials Republicans would have no grounds for objection. They didn't, but McConnell blocked the nomination. I'm repeating what I'm sure you already know because while Democrats have their errors (calling supporters of Republicans stupid, for example) it's not a "both sides do it".

Trump never made any effort to work with Democrats even when they won the House.

So I am really afraid Moscow Mitch will use Senate majority to block EVERYTHING. Every appointment, even Cabinet, every judge, every piece of legislation, no matter how needed or popular, every budget. He likes being Grim Reaper.

Then in 2 years Republicans will run for office saying Biden administration.

In unrelated election news, New Mexico made history; their entire House delegation is women of color (two Native Americans and a Latina), first time ever for any state.

I answered and provided reasons. And i then asked the same question back.
Its okay and in fact possible to disagree and not have it be a confrontation.
