I thought Calabro was fine too personally, didn't love him but thought he was okay. I loved Barret, but hated Mike Rice, so Calabro was an overall improvement even if it was mostly due to addition by subtraction.
Well since you asked... Because Tunchi is not a forum member anymore, I can tell the truth about him. He was an annoying, extremely whiny clown who cried about everything, didn't have an ounce of basketball knowledge, and threatened people on here. Nobody feared him, they laughed at him, then he got banned for being a stain on the forum.
Give him a season. Let him work into the role and get comfortable. Everyone deserves a chance to excel. He has some really good qualities that he can apply to the broadcast team. On top of it all he is a very well liked guy who will work hard.
Me too. I felt he really had become one of us in his short tenure. Made some fantastic calls of great moments that will always be apart of Blazers lore. That being said i'm excited for Jordan Kent. He's has a great personality, and will get to grow with an exciting Blazer Basketball era. Best Wishes for a long, and exciting career with the Blazers.
Jordan seems like a good guy but man he’s so corny it’s painful. Might as well have hired Adam Bjaranson back
Can anyone who watched the TV broadcast comment on whether or not there was any difference in Kent's performance last night? I just saw the tweet where he said that was the first game he's EVER called with fans in the stands, and it made me wonder if that's had an impact on the quality of his work.
to me i didnt notice a drastic change? Seemed a bit more uppity and his smiles seemed wider? Overall im fine with him/them. he has a bit of a drab nasally tone to his voice but he is smooth and doesnt lip up much. He does have alot of knowledge of the team history etc it seems and thats a plus. maybe i dont watch enough nba to hear other announcers from other teams, to see a difference in quality. All i know is his voice is not near as nasally and annoying as reggie millers. every time i listen to him i feel thankful for what we have. i do miss Calbros emotions though.
He seemed a bit more energized. I think he will improve and not try so hard over time in that seat. His sidekick I remember was a bit tight and corny when he first started, now he's very lose and I think does a good job. They both are young and ex ballers so they bring some interesting takes and at times their age comes through too.
I just did a google search for "Jordan kent" and the results said that he had a twin, and I started to think "how cool is that! they could totally do a joke about that on the show". Then I realized I was reading up about the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
I didnt like Barrett at all in the beginning but over time I got used to him. Te Wild One carried him for a few years, imo. I think its cool that both Barrett & Kent are both home grown.
I watched but all I heard him say over and over and over and over again was that there were fans in the stands for the first time so I don't recall him actually talking about the game at all.
I really don't understand the bashing of Kent. He's paid to be bias and he has very little experience in the role the organization put him in. They could've gone out an spent some money on a vet, but appear to have gone with the local, cost-cutting route like they did with Demers (who is slowly improving). Be mad at the organization for hiring someone with so little experience if you must be upset.
I don't think anyone is bashing Kent, as no one is saying he's a bad person. It's just that he's not good at his job and makes the games even harder to listen to. I think we'd all say the same thing about Michael Holton, who has been doing TV/Radio for years. Same with Antonio Harvey, he was bad at his job even after what, 10+ years? Had nothing to do with him as a person, just his skill set was not as a tv/radio guy. Same with Kent. He's a 1990's stereotypical anchor reporter guy.
