I just blacked out as I stood up. Twisted both knees so much that I'm worried about one of them. Banged my elbow and twisted my ankle. Couldn't stand up. Had to slide over to my sunken family room so I could sit on the ledge and stand up with the help of my wife. My wife is only 125 lbs so she's not strong enough to prevent my falls.
The VA provided me with a device on a necklace that I can push a button and get 911 help.
That's about the fourth or fifth fall where I had real trouble getting back to my feet.
You know those ads where the old person says "I've fallen and I can't get up" well that's now me. Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit.

Problem is the thing is so bulky that I quit wearing it. It actually connects wireless to a device in my home office that's hard connected to the phone line.

It almost always happens the afternoon after my dialysis treatments. My blood pressure can go dramatically low. Usually when it gets down to about 60/35 I start having serious trouble. That's when I eat something salty and drink lots of fluid. Need to get some of those snack pretzels. Hey, what a great excuse for a beer. Snack pretzels and beer. Bingo!

Those small organs are surprisingly important... Are you on the waiting list for a transplant?

Glad to hear you're OK Lanny...accidents like you described are exactly why I carry my phone with me everywhere I go, especially when Annie's not here.

My mom had cancer that caused her a lot of problems. The thing that finally took her out though was a fall in her closet, we had repeatedly told her to ask for help and she repeatedly tried to hold on to her freedom and do everything by herself. After that fall it was downhill fast, it was like the new injury was too much for her body to deal with. Be careful Lanny and don't let your pride keep you from asking for help from your family.

Glad you're seemingly OK, Lanny. I would strongly suggest that you stay put (not up and around in any way) during the afternoons following your dialysis treatments.

BTW, if I do end up losing our little wager, we can always "bring in" to your house. :)

If you have an iPhone, Siri can contact emergency services for you via voice commands:

“How to Call 911 Using Siri
The following voice commands can be used with Siri to dial 911:

    1. “Hey Siri, call 911”
    2. “Hey Siri, call an ambulance”
    3. “Hey Siri, call emergency services”
    4. “Hey Siri, dial 911”
Following your command, Siri will respond that it’s “Calling Emergency Services in five seconds.” This gives you a chance to cancel the call if it was unintentional.”

Sorry to hear you fell Lanny....not a good sign. I'd recommend checking your diet for anything that can add to the blacking out...blood sugar, etc....hope your knees are ok. Also you need to stop trying to chase your wife around the house bro!

No, there was something about my heart that dissuaded them. Bullshit since my family is known for their very strong hearts. Meanwhile my cardiologist says my heart is strong and it's been studied six ways to Sunday.

Both my knees are so sore this morning that I can't take a step alone. My wife's going to get donuts so I'm gonna be stuck at the kitchen table until she gets back.

Dammit, @Lanny don't scare us like that. Be careful man. You gotta chill in the afternoons when you get back from treatment. No more falling dude, we need you here. Hope the knees feel better. Thoughts are with you.
