Ok I see why Olshey likes him now.

So you will be pissed if they take Scrubbs at 16 but ok if we take him at 26?
The difference is that we also are able to get a borderline player who we could probably get anyways in free agency? (an equivalent talent)

Givonys latest mock has Maxey to Portland, but that’s not based on any intel, just his pick. Poku, McDaniels, Precious, and Green were all still on the board btw.

The Athletic had a piece today about us drafting RJ Hampton.

Olshey did nothing to make the next step for our Team, for the past few years he made almost nothing but signing average or below average players. Everybody knows that at some point you you have to take a risk. Dame is 30 the time is ticking.
So sick of neils shit, dude plays it so fucking safe every year to protect his job. Still fucking pissed Paul Allen’s sister didn’t fire his ass when Daryl morey was available, who wants a gm that plays it safe every time.

If Olshey doesn't make a significant trade before the start of next season I'll be furious.

Did Olshey silence Bey or what.

Don’t think this is good news if you want Hampton btw.

Hasn't Bey elected not to reveal any teams he has talked to?

Don't really trust Beys shot at all, got some lonzo vibes on that release. Footwork lacks that speed we are going to be desperate for on the wings. Team Josh Green for me - defense is such a premium at the 3 spot, finding a scoring 3 is a lot easier.

But I would be okay with Nesmith or Bey because Trent was not projected to be a good defender out of Duke at all so there's still hope.

O’Connor’s latest mock has Poku in the lottery. He has Kira going to Portland. I would rather just take McDaniels tbh.

I'm not convinced he's going to be an NBA player (but then, what do I know) but if someone in our Front Office has fallen in love with him, at least can we get a player I have hopes about?

    1. It's better to get a player in the draft than free agency - they're cheaper, and more likely to be good.
    2. Your definition will fit most players in the draft. You think it applies to Tillman, so I think it applies to some guy you think is good.

Assuming Portland doesn’t draft someone they haven’t worked out (not sure it’s a deal killer as Nas didn’t work out for them either)

    Worked out/interviewed
    Scrubb
    Nesmith

    Not eliminated
    McDaniels
    Pokusevski
    Bey
    J. Smith
    Green

Of these 7, I don’t think I’d be bummed out no matter who they picked, even Scrubb. But my preference would still be Poku, Bey, or Green..in that order. McDaniels is also rising faaast in my mind tho, just cuz of his upside.

Very true, you don't know, I don't know, and quite frankly neither do most front-office personnel. (based on results from years past)

On one hand, I agree..... draft as many players as possible and hope one is a surprise. (i.e Trent vs ANT)

But on the other hand, if they really love a guy, don't get too cute. Just take him if you like him more than anyone else that is left on the board. There are always undrafted rookies that come cheap who are basically as talented as the players that go at the end of the first round. (and 2nd round) You can always find young players to develop.

Know what’s funny about Scrubb? If he was a foreigner no one would care about his level of competition, and would evaluate him the way prospects are supposed to; projection.

Is Scrubb a copy of Hood?
