Agree, wonder what he might cost. I think FA will offer some opportunities for the kinds of players Por needs to fill out the roster. Would we rather have Grant for the MLE vs Milsap? With Roco and Grant we'd have a couple good defenders with size and Grant is a good 3 pt shooter

Well the plan wasn't to use MLE for Hood i guess, that's fucked up. One step forward one step backwards

I'd think I'd rather have a Jerami Grant then a Rodney Hood "if" he can be had for MLE

Trent made Hood expendable. It is what it is.

But what if he opted out to sign a long term deal with Portland? Would we have to use an exception to sign him?

I think so; he's an UFA now, right?

But then, I thought I read once we could sign Whiteside w/o using an exception, so I don't know.

I read last night from Bobby Marks that Milwaukee is hard-capped after their moves and can only offer minimum contracts, so I doubt they'll be an option for Hood.

according to spotrac, we have early bird rights now with Hood at 11.4M, so does that mean we can resign without using a MLE?

Portland has Bird or Early Bird rights on both Whiteside & Hood.

Portland could re-sign both players and still have the FULL MLE available to sign other players.

so maybe we’re just locking hood up long term? Woj tweet suggested he’s going somewhere else though, and he isn’t one to really speculate. we also know he’s tight with Olshey. Will be interesting.

Can’t ever fully be optimistic with Olshey and free agency, but I’m still hopeful.

I think we need a vet. backup PG to run the second unit, maintain consistency when Dame's off the floor. I'm tired of the CJ show and it's looking like we'll have a very capable bench this year. Reggie Jackson, Jeff Teague, Goran (pipedream) Dragic, DJ Augustin, and to a lesser extent Kris Dunn would all seem to fit the bill.

Underratedly major need for us, I think.
