    yes, so 16 oz * 208 lb * $1800 = $5.99 million Voodoo stated

Voodoo never said his weight in lbs multiplied by cost per ounce as your implying...

Woj is saying he can play right away with a new team?

I got the feeling that Neil told him to not option in as he has other plans, much like he did with Davis. Nothing against either one just different course, that what a GM is payed to do. The addition of RoCo convinces me of this.
We need 4/5 & bu pg more and thats what Neil is engineering.

I believe this how this going to work Hood going check out the UFA waters and if don't like what see in offers then he turn and sign back with us. Remember these FA doesn't have much time to find a team like in the past.

Maybe he told Hood to opt out so he could sign him for more to play SG because he is trading CJ.... :breakdance:

My bad two days in a row! It just seemed to me that man of solid gold would be worth more but I'm wrong.

I guess that all depends on just how bad Neil wants Aaron Gordon.

I agree with hoopguru, this has Ed Davis situation written all over it, Hood did us a favour when he signed for cheap, now Neil told him early that he wants to go into another direction, really hope Hood can find a good role on a good team with a good contract, he deserves it. Hopefully Neil knows what he's doing

Yes this is a reasonable possibility and wouldn't surprise me...

The more I think of this the more I suspect you may be correct.

More evidence is Neil's experience with Elton Brand's torn Achilles, and not offering Matthews anything after his tear. Neil repeatedly mentioned it being a devastating injury that players are never the same. It wouldn't make sense for Neil to now go against his prior outlook when those were proven correct, plus Hood is the least talented of the three players.

A man of Hood’s size but made of solid gold would be worth more. Hood weighs 208 lbs., which equates to a volume of 93,413 cubic centimeters. A cubic centimeter of gold weighs 19.28 g. So, 93,413 x 19.28 x $1,800 = $3,241,804,752. Of course, I wouldn’t count on him getting up and down the court too fast.

    Good point!

A man of solid gold is worth a lot more...

I think that original quote was "worth your weight in gold" in which case the $6 million value still applies.

Right! Because gold is much much more dense than the human body.

This was player option so really olshey could say all he wants but this was Hood decision and maybe the trade had something to do with him opt out.

until/unless we hear otherwise, I'm going to choose to believe this was always the plan dating back to when we first signed him to a below-market deal, knowing we only had the tax-MLE at the time. We now have the ability to "make right" what he gave up to stay here without reducing our MLE, and I hope we do.

According to Jaynes Hood will more than likely re-sign with Portland on a better deal than his contract before paid...reconstruct his contract

I still think this is the most likely scenario:

Summer 2019 - Olshey tells Hood that he know's he worth more than $6m/yr, but that's all we can offer him. If he takes it, come summer of 2020, we'll make it up to him with a multi-year deal.

Hood gets hurt in 2019, but Olshey knows the value of taking care of the player/agent will allow him to maintain favor for future deals, so he holds to his word and tells Hood to opt-out so he can give him more money.

That doesn't seem that far fetched, does it?

I think that, as long as Hood’s Achilles is fully healed and the training and coaching staff are happy with his recovery, it’s the most likely scenario. He’s a great fit with the team. I like the idea of a small ball lineup of Dame, CJ, Hood, Roco and Zach when other teams go small.

I no longer pay attention to the cap and the structure of how things have to play out and be ordered/structured to maximize the benefits of the various assets, but I suppose there have to be a ton of factors that play into the possibility of what gets accomplished and/or announced today.

I mean, think about how often we heard about deals within the first few hours of free agency in recent years. Now, add the shortened timeline before training camp, and I would assume we should all expect a frenzy, no?
