I was basing cap space numbers off a tweet earlier today, but they also made a bunch of moves today, and waived Maker who was 5 million, so maybe they have enough room now. But they definitely don’t have full bird rights. His contract was two seasons, most he could have is early bird rights.

We don't need to sign any perimeter players, let alone two since Roco would be our starting 3 with Millsap.

    Lillard / McCollum
    McCollum / Trent
    Roco / Hood
    Millsap / ?
    Nurkic / Collins?

We'd need a backup big there.

We could definitelt use peeimater players who can create and score, and who can defend. Dotson and Harrison will be cheap but good fits. You clearly saw this over the past years. Cov isnt a creator either.

I would agree if you said guards, I disagree that we don’t need perimeter players though. A guy like Crowder combined with Covington would essentially be a juiced up lineup version of Dame/CJ/Harkless/Aminu/Nurk. Guys like Crowder and Covington who are mobile enough to guard 3s and big enough to guard 4s AND can shoot 3s, you can’t get enough of those on this team.

Another option, if you really want to get Millsap, is to sign Jeff Green to the BAE, and start Hood/Covington with Trent/Green coming off the bench. And you’d still have the TPE to upgrade a spot.

So it's either "True" or "Not True"?
    Yes I'm joking....

Right now the Blazers. You guys forget we kind of need him still. You can't get much better of a backup big than that.
Collins is a PF. I know he can play the 5 at times but he is a PF. The Blazers need a big or they need to find a way to keep Whiteside in my opinion.

I think you're in the minority on that opinion.

We don't know Hood or Neil wants to be on the team. Two way wings are the hardest position to fill so I still think it's our biggest need. RoCo doesn't have good ball handling, creation, or lockdown individual D for a SF so his best position may be some at PF. His help D is great.

Maybe we resign Melo as a backup PF.

Whiteside has talent but not sure he's worth the headache as a backup 5.

Collins is a backup big, with his injuries and inconsistent contributions we need other backup option at both PF and C. However C is the deepest position in the league and easy to address with vet minimum so we should prioritize all resources to adding forwards first.

Couple issues I have with this. First off Whiteside hasn’t been a headache at all since being here.
Second Collins has had a shoulder injury and a minor foot injury. He has the quickness to be a PF and the outside shooting to back it up. Collins at this point has not been injury prone. He just got injured. All players get injuries. His happened to cost him a season. Now if you want to call him a foul machine I can agree there but a 22 year old or is it 23 now is not a player you call injury prone yet? I do say yet?

Feel free to make that case. Your claim in the other post about his quickness and outside shooting is... less than convincing.

Hood literally said he'll be back regardless of if he opts out earlier this year.

We have 3 players that are above average ball-handlers at their position (Dame, CJ, Nurk). Would be 4 if we sign Millsap or Gallinari. Roco will be just fine at the 3.

@BonesJones ....What about bringing back Skal Labissiere? If memory serves, someone posted how well he did in certain areas when he was on the floor.
    • 23 years old but it seems like he has been around longer.
    • Career 35% shooter from '3' on very minimal attempts, but shows he at least has a stroke.
    • Averaged almost 15/11 per 36 in his time in Portland with 2 blocks.
    • Shot almost 60% from the field while he was here.
    • Offensive Rating was 129 and 121 his 2 years here.
    • His DBPM was positive both years he played here.
    • Plays C and PF, 6'10' 240

LaMarcus said he'd be a Blazer too.

We secondly don't know Neil wants him back, he is averse to more talented players with Achilles injuries.

Now your saying we will sign Gallinari so backup PF is the most critical position and RoCo can play SF? Im all for that hypothetical.... I'm not writing in Hood or Gallinari until Woj tweets it.

sure if he's healthy, I think this just reinforces "how many" solid FA's there are available at PF/C, most should be backups but I'd also love to get a guy like Christian Wood or Jerami Grant, unfortunately they will both likely get more than MLE and sign and trades could be difficult
