What the hell happened to this guy?

    upload_2020-11-21_21-1-52.png

Was he just mailing it in last year or is he ACTUALLY that bad?

The year before he wasn't even remotely that bad.

9 ppg, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists on 45% shooting and 39% from three. Was he hurt? Was he just done playing in Charlotte? I don't get it.

Whether it was from frailty or he just gave up, neither of those is exactly making me want a reunion.

If he could be had for a very low price, it might be worth it. He could be the playmaker we have been needing. With that said, the dropoff from two seasons ago to last season was substantial. You don't see that kind of drop very often. I'm curious what happened.

This rotation is full, we seriously don't need any other rotation players.

We don't have a backup point guard. Simons is a failed experiment and CJ only looks for his own shot.

I don't know if Nic is the answer, but he has run the point for this team in the past. If you look at his advanced stats, his usg% dropped like a rock in the past couple years. Before that he was always averaging above 20% on his asst%. His first three years in Charlotte had a pretty good asst%.

If we could get the Nic that had a 26% asst ratio and 38% from three, that wouldn't be a bad pickup at all.

the time for Batum was 3 or 4 years ago with a third of the salary he had

We don't need that Batum. I want a guy who will come off the bench, run the offense, maybe hit an open three, and play passable defense. If we could get THAT Batum for the minimum or the BAE, I would do it.

We don't need Batum now...I'd rather use young Hoard or Wenyen ..if we signed somebody now as I've said...get a pt guard...my pick would be Jeremy Lin but Shabazz would work as a backup too

    but why?

is you assume that essentially SG, SF, and PF are kind of interchangeable as wings and such, that's 144 minutes a game. CJ will log at least 20-24, leaving about 120 minutes

    then you have

    Trent
    Simons
    Hood
    Little
    Covington
    Jones
    Zach
    Melo

even if you assume Simons and Little warm the bench all year, that still leaves at least 6 players deserving of time. Covington should get 30 minutes. That leaves 90 minutes for at least 5 players. They didn't sign Jones to play him 15 minutes/game. And Stotts will pull the trigger for Melo a lot....you know that's coming. Zach averaged 26 minutes last season. Hood was averaging 30 when he got hurt. Trent averaged 28 for the last 15 games before the season was postponed and 35 in the bubble

there is already going to be a minutes crunch. I guess Batum at 12 minutes a game at PG is conceivable, but it's also conceivable the opposing PG will be penetrating at will

He was never that good from the first place. That’s why he was so polarizing while he played here. Batum has always been extremely overrated

Nic at PF would be interesting.

He’d be great to have around GTJ/Nas/Elleby/Ant.

For the BAE I’d say it’s a no brainer

Watching him in games last year, he looked lost. He never looked engaged. Passed up open shots a lot. Sad. He had a nice run, and made some generational loot. Time to enjoy the fruits.

CJ is Stotts' and Olshey's backup PG. I don't like it any more than you do but it is seemingly what these guys want to do. I guess I could be wrong and they'll bring in someone with the BAE but that someone won't play. There will be a three guard rotation of Dame, CJ and Gary any other guards on the roster will get spot minutes unless there's an injury. I think.

That guy had the tools to be Pippen-like. But no drive.

You never knew what you were going to get with him and it was irritating.
