I read somewhere on a twitter feed that the Blazers have had Ant working on handles and passing since the bubble...he's going to be the backup guard...hopefully he's a quick study
Realistically there’s no minutes for him unless we cut into other people that probably deserve the minutes more.
lol...he was a backup PG last season...you'd think they'd have him working on his handles before last season instead of waiting till 2 months ago is there any more futile endeavor in the NBA than trying to make a SG into a PG?
In a perfect world I would want Dame and CJ playing 34 minutes a night during the regular season. But we need those PG minutes for CJ so that we have minutes for GTJ. I don’t want Trent playing small forward. We have Hood, RoCo, and DJJ that should be getting minutes there. So where do we find minutes for Ant?
He's real young man...people forgot how young...like, still growing young. Young players do learn to play new positions....he's quick enough to learn to be a pt guard if he gets the handles....what he's not is a consistent lights out shooting guard yet or big enough to guard 2 guards...
Please let Whiteside sign with Rockets. Please. Having him take minutes from Christian Wood would warm my heart.
he's only 5 months younger than Gary Trent, Collin Sexton, and Tyler Herro he's 2 months older than Ja Morant, a month older than Zion Williamson, 3 months older than Cam Reddish, & Jaren Jackson those guys are producing, many as starters. What's limiting Simons might not be youth, but ability
yeah...he's not those guys ...people develop at different rates....he didn't play college ball like anybody you mentioned....had nothing to do with my point that he can learn to play pt guard at his age...I'm sensing he's going to be a focus of disdain on the roster though...I think he can make the leap before his rookie deal is up but would be better suited to try playing the 1.....Gary Trent has been coached since he could walk by an NBA dad....grew up in the nba surrounded by NBA superstars.....everybody has a different path to success and timeline
man, give the kid a break. If it wasn't for Neil hyping him up mad crazy and thinking he'd be a definitive Seth replacement before the season last yr, we'd have all been fine with his development. I'm expecting better things this season. plus he got a girl. isn't that cute?
We also usually trade up and get someone we are targeting at the beginning of the second round. I really think Olshey didn't have anyone he was extremely excited about that was available so he just took the highest guy left on his draft board and that would explain the two year deal as opposed to the three year deal where we could have bird rights and restrict his free agency.
