you sir are obviously someone that has never overwintered on kodiak island, lol. joking, but they truly do have a place where icing is as common as snow fall. kodiak is one such local. many days chains are mandatory.
I get the application in a place like Kodiak. But Oregon?? Ice and snow on the road is so rare and people keep their snow tires on for roughly 6 months. That is a lot of totally unnecessary wear and tear on the roads. I used to have chains but got rid of them when a bought a car with AWD. Most AWD cars these days work great on the amount of snow we get (when we get it).
Hey, when you gotta be there in snow or ice then you gotta do what you gotta do. Take me for example. I've gotta be at my dialysis appointments. The VA transportation system does not work in ice or snow so my wife drives me but she has zero experience in that kind of weather. We now have the best winter tires you can buy made by Michelin with no studs. We also have AWD so we're gonna give it a try and see how she does. Personally, I'm nervous.
Personally, rain, snow, ice, sunshine, daylight, snow tires, AWD, whatever, I’m always nervous when my wife is behind the wheel......
