Texas sues four battleground states in Supreme Court over ‘unlawful election results’ in 2020 presidential race Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate presidential election results in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan. The lawsuit asserts that “unlawful election results” in those four states, which President-elect Joe Biden won, should be declared unconstitutional. The filing argues that those states used the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to unlawfully change their election rules. Experts in election law were quick to dismiss the likelihood of the nine Supreme Court justices taking the case. Texas’ Republican attorney general, Ken Paxton, on Tuesday announced a lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate presidential election results in four key swing states that helped secure Democrat Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump. The unusual lawsuit, which was filed directly to the Supreme Court, asserts that “unlawful election results” in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan — all of which Biden won — should be declared unconstitutional. Legal experts quickly dismissed it as primarily a political document. The filing argues that those states used the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to unlawfully change their election rules “through executive fiat or friendly lawsuits, thereby weakening ballot integrity.” “Any electoral college votes cast by such presidential electors appointed” in those states “cannot be counted,” Texas asks the high court to rule. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/08/tex...eme-court-over-unlawful-election-results.html
How did they not follow the constitution? Yeah, I could go read the lawsuit to learn the supposed unconstitutionality. But maybe you've already done so? barfo
I think there should be recounts in Texas and Florida at least. Those were two states the Democrats expected to do well in....and should have. I’d bet money the Republicans cheated to pad their totals so no one would look askance when they demanded recounts in the states they lost in by smaller margins. Shit, they telegraphed their current moves/strategies months before the actual election. They KNEW the states to target for “fraud” claims way before the election. If the Republicans legitimately thought they would be defrauded months before it “happened”, then it’s on them for not trying harder to stop it. If the Republicans are sincere about recounts, “fair” elections, obeying the constitution (and whatever other verbal diarrhea they toss out), then lets recount EVERY stinking vote in America. I need 100% proof that 74 million Americans actually thought Donald Trump was fit to represent this country. Because I honestly don’t believe it. America (even currently) has FAR too much pride and patriotism to allow that buffoon to continue to degrade our image. I also honestly believe Trump cheated to win in 2016 and that far, far more evidence exists to prove that than exists to prove fraud by the Democrats in 2020. But if I had to guess, the Republicans out cheated the Democrats in 2016, and in 2020 the Democrats learned at the hands of the masters and out cheated the Republicans in 2020. I’ve never been a party line voter but I am now fairly certain I will never waste my time voting in another presidential election......and I most certainly will never vote for another Republican for any position at any level again in this lifetime. They have proven themselves to be entirely unworthy. I prefer my cheaters to be subtle, not ham handed and farcical.......
Of Course, it's a red State. Looks like a feeble premise to sue. Wish these jerks would let this shit go and allow our country to heal. I hope the Supreme court views this entire circumstance as a witch hunt.
TX v State Motion "This case presents a question of law: Did the Defendant States violate the Electors Clause by taking non-legislative actions to change the election rules that would govern the appointment of presidential electors? These non-legislative changes to the Defendant States’ election laws facilitated the casting and counting of ballots in violation of state law, which, in turn, violated the Electors Clause of Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution. By these unlawful acts, the Defendant States have not only tainted the integrity of their own citizens’ vote, but their actions have also debased the votes of citizens in Plaintiff State and other States that remained loyal to the Constitution."
Thanks! I'm far from a constitutional lawyer, but the claim that Texas has been harmed seems quite farfetched, and I'd expect the suit to be thrown out on those grounds at the very least. Texas' votes are entirely separate from those of the Defendent States, and no matter how they run their elections, it doesn't change Texas's electoral votes. barfo
