Honestly this is patently false. This isn't high school basketball it's the NBA. Talent wins the games and coaches can win or lose a handful throughout the season. If coaches are the cause of a handful of losses in a row those coaches get fired. It also needs to be remembered that these are the same coaches for the most part that have coached this team to the playoffs the last seven seasons. This game was terrible on every level but to think this is indicative of the way the entire season will go is asinine and so many in here are making that snap judgment.

It's not impossible that this team misses the playoffs it's just extremely extremely unlikely.

That's a good question. I would have no doubt that Utah's was better because they can defend one on one much better than we can, which is our main problem.

I've never got the impression that this coaching staff is interested in conditioning.

The only thing to say about this game was it was horrendous but it was only one game.

One take from this could be: Since we go against better defenders than ours, we need to work harder (and pass more) to get good shots. It's just a theory.

What current NBA coach implemented a strict conditioning program in their 2 week training camp? Coming to camp in conidition is on the players, but then I guess you could blame the strength and coniditioning staff.

According to every report we've ever had from this training staffs training camps... until this season. The first week has always been dedicated to getting into shape. I can't be sure about the theory that the staff ignored conditioning this year it's just that everyone looked like they had dead legs tonight, in every way.

Always better to get as high quality shots as possible. I don't suspect offense is going to be our main issue this season. Defense, this new defense, on the other hand...

I'm not saying that this game isn't troubling for the immediate future, it potentially is. I am saying that anyone who thinks this team... with this collection of talent, is going to miss the playoffs is going to be wrong.

This team feels like it has Mike Schuler, PJ Carlisemo, Maurice Cheeks and Nate MacMillan written all over it.

You just listed the coaches of like 22 of our last 26 seasons (if you include Stotts).

"What talent? Olshey has given no personnel to Stotts. It would be a miracle if we got to 8th in the west. Stotts should get Coach of the Year consideration for that. He's doing the best with what he's been given." - Things the apologists say.

"The Blazers should win a title with 1 all-star" - Things said by people who haven't watched the last 30 seasons of the NBA.

False premise. You keep posting about titles. And, nobody is asking that.

They just expect better results. And, I think that's fair.

    Please don't be disingenuous.
