My bad bro. Your post came in the middle of the discussion about the bombing, in the the thread about the bombing. Thanks for pointing that out. Regardless of the protests and campaigns to defund the police, they are still out there working, despite what people speeding or doing illegally otherwise might think. The police have not gone away. They are still out their patrolling, doing what they have always done. I agree they aren't trusted. There are bad cops out there. Many are good though. Though, some cities may be successful in defunding the police which doesn't mean shutting them down, the police aren't going anywhere. They are just being held accountable. Earlier in the year when the Protests were just beginning and more in effect across the country (There are still protests) that were more violent in nature, people who wanted to do bad things became more brazen for sure. The election has become the new reason for such atrocities and we will likely see more.
but not for much longer.... https://www.koin.com/news/civic-affairs/citing-hostility-portland-police-leaving-mid-career/ https://www.koin.com/news/report-young-people-turning-their-backs-on-portland/ and people are shocked i say... shocked!!! https://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/2020/12/readers-respond-shocked-by-portlands-decline.html
If it were true. There were no voting machines there as far as I know. It doesn't surprise me the right on Parler would take this angle. No, there are plenty of crazy people on the far left who just want chaos, but this doesn't feel like that. Again, I could be wrong, but I don't think so
Sure, Some are leaving. But, the police will not be going anywhere. Policies will change to reflect accountability and such as has been protested. They won't have as much funding. But, they will still be here all the same.
that wont cut it though. Many who have been protesting from day one have said point blank. No more police. Get rid of the police and im not mixing that with defunding. Ive heard first hand that they some straight uo want the police gone aNd nothing short of that will alter their actions.
Ive said from day one fix this internally. Not on the streets. Violence only begats violence and its about to get much more violent. right or wrong, history is reality. And history proves long term sustainable peace is never reached through violence and the lack of compromise. So all we are doing is swinging the pendulum from one side to the other. Still gonna be racism. Still gonna be hatred. Still gonna be the haves and the have nots. on a small scale hasnt this place proven its not the action but the reaction that gets one in trouble?
We both know though, that is not happening. What will happen is reform and policy change. Police will be held accountable. Not a bad thing
its not confirmed. but if it was a Muslim attacking on Christmas trump def would’ve tweeted about it by now. His silence speaks volumes, actually
With it being a Trump guy like this. It kinda makes you wonder if it wasn't just a warning blast and if there might be more to come?
Would be interesting to get a tally of some sort. Add up: - bombings (OKC, etc) - school shootings - mass shootings see who they voted for, or if young, who they identify with, D or R.
I don't think anybody claims the homeless and trash are just a couple blocks. The protests were just a couple of blocks.
