It says revision surgery so I'm taking that to mean the first surgery wasn't healing right. If that is true then he'll be out for the season to make sure things heal correctly this time.

In case anyone wants to not have to Google it, the "medial malleolus" is the bony bump on the inside of your ankle--also the end of your tibia, and what the ligament on the inner side of your ankle is attached to.

And fuck the insults. I feel bad for Collins. He seems like a great guy and more importantly he has always played hard for us.

It was a tricky area to begin with. Revision surgery is not a good sign. That area tends to not heal very quickly and may never be as strong as it was originally. Will be fine for everyday life, but for the pounding required for a basketball player? Big question.

Well this sucks. Pretty much par for the course as far as the Blazers are concerned though. Hopefully nobody else gets injured.

Really though? He helped us win some big games in the playoffs... Games we would have likely lost without him.

I have a hard time labeling a player who has been instrumental in a team's success a bust because of injuries. Injuries happen.

To me, bust means failure to help your team by not playing well. Not being as good as you could have been, due to being overhyped or failing to put in the work.

A guy who can't walk can't be good. There is no potential there.

I don't know... Just my thoughts on "bust".

Sucks for him. This is an incredibly important season for him financially and if he can't prove he can stay or get healthy that alone will impact his pay going forward. That's not to mention that if he can't get on the court he can't answer any of the questions about the game that have come up during his rookie contract: Can he hold onto the ball? Can he stay out of foul trouble while playing good defense? Can his outside shot be consistent?

Rough blow for Zach, he's seemed like a hard worker but has been injured throughout his time in the league. The good and bad news is that none of the injuries have been repeat injuries... no recurring knee, back or foot injuries. So although he is easily hurt there aren't any long term specifics that should diminish his value any further than just not being able to stay on the court.
