When Melo comes back from the health/safety protocol, should he lose his spot in the rotation?

Poll closed Jan 3, 2021.
  1. Yes, he was horrible before and there are better players behind him.

    31.6%
  2. No, but give him one last chance. If he stinks it up, into the doghouse he goes.

  3. No, give him a couple more chances, and if he doesn't play well, then give away his minutes or spot.

    10.5%
  4. No, but keep him on a short leash each game. Pull him if he's not playing well.

Actually, the NBA advanced stats define a “wide open” 3 as 6+ feet between shooter and defender, “open” as 4-6 feet and “contested” as 3 feet or less. Haven’t looked it up this season but last season we were one of the worst in the league at allowing wide open 3s and open 3s. Tonight there were a lot of wide open and open 3s allowed.

Filter by wide open shots, sort by 3pt shot attempts.

They don’t have game by game stats, but clearly you can just calculate the amount allowed this game with some simple math using what the number is today and the number is tomorrow.

So you are saying that a defender has to be over 6 foot away to be wide open and has to be within 3 foot to be contested? Does this position start at the gather or at the pull up? Or is it at the release?

It’s not even blowouts, this game was over in the first quarter. Some games that look like blowouts are actually competitive for 2-3 quarters and then one team gets hot. We sucked out of the gate and the entire game basically became garbage time. All our losses follow this pattern.

One thing is clear: CJ2 is this year’s white flag. As is Dame’s cousin.

Simons should be as well :bored:

Quick is by far the best blazer beat reporter, he's the only one who has balls to ask critical questions, and that's what i expect from a journalist. The rest are just ass lickers

    I see.
I do have some questions about the metric but i do see the way it is built. Was more wondering how many they give up? Also funny how they jump all the way up to 18+ a game (2nd in the league behind Houston) when you put in (Open Looks) which is 4-6 feet. And they are #1 within 2 foot making the most in the league. I would say that is because of Lillard trying to draw fouls.

Still looking for the defensive metric? The thing that troubles me with the metric is the (4-6 foot) open look? I myself have a 37 inch arm. with a step i can cover 6 feet very fast. These guys are bigger and longer than i am and in arguably better shape not to mention trained to defend. 48 inches is lifting my arm and leaning. I personally would not call that an open look. i would have a hand in a face and i'm old. So as my question on this stat remains. At what point are they taking the stat? the gather or the release? If a player is inside 36 inches on the release they better watch out or it's a 4 point play or 3 free throws on the miss.

I want to make sure i'm respectfully disagreeing with you here. Because yes after the first this game seemed over. But when i was watching i was looking for under 20 by half and they actually did that. Then i wanted under 20 by the start of the 4th. they were at 19. The beginning of the 4th to me was when the game was over. if the run had gone the other way (which it very easily could have) the Blazers would have been at 11. But the Clippers went on a 8 point run and it was 27. That was when Stotts called it and put in the bench. Game over at that point. No sense putting Lillard or Nurk back in. Pull CJ #1 and put in CJ #2.
Again this was just the way i was thinking when watching. I do not get on Game threads and listen to doom and gloom. I stay focused on the game and try not to throw shit through my TV. There is always a way to get back into a game for this team. Lillard can shoot 0 for 20 and then hit 5 straight threes. We have all seen 20 point comeback wins.

Fuugly. But kind of an odd game. It was like we were drunk or something. I saw dame with some straight up terrible turnovers that out of character.
Im not sure if it was the hot 3pt shooting out of the gate from the clippers or what, but this didn't even look like a team trying to gel.
We just had a bad night and got beat.

Trust in Lillard. He will rebound.

Don't worry too much about that. Some people take other people's posts and completely attribute to them things they didn't come close to saying all the time.

I'm really trying to post in ways that are obviously not "Attacking" or "Judgmental". It's tough but it can be done. The first problem to remember is that there is no voice inflection so a joke can be taken very wrong. Then try to remember past comments and buffer any biased conversation.
Any way i agree it's easy to post completely off base. I've done it many many times myself.

The season is going to be down & up, fighting for 9-6 with a possible trade.
