Bottom line Terry Stotts has been here an eternity as far as NBA coaches go.
I know I’m ready for a change. I want it to be a good change and a solid choice but I’m ready to see a different style.

The Blazers will win tonight against a bad, depleted Wolves team, and Stotts will get a reprieve for a bit.

This team might lose to a well coached Euroleague team if the 3 point gods reject them yet again.

Didn't the Blazers look great against a terrible, depleted, clueless team like the Wolves? All problems solved!

See this is a franchise that isn't playing around. Now given Stotts has never scratched having a season where he only won 28% if his games but he has probably had a 15 game stretch that went 4-11. I'm not saying that the Eagles are run correctly or that this was the right thing to do with a coach that is only five years ago coached your team to their only championship in the franchise's eighty seven year history.

I'm also not saying we need to do what this thread title is saying to do but one post sighted Jerry Sloan's tenure with Utah as precedence for Stotts' tenure here. Well, Sloan coached a Jazz team that made the finals in his ninth season. If that doesn't happen this season, not only should Terry go but Olshey should go too. The Vulcans or whoever should then hire a GM and coach that have a specific and realistic vision to revamp this roster around Dame to maximize what he does.

We have the talent, I don't think it all fits together but it is enough talent to build a team just through trades (multiple trades) that fits around Dame much better and gives him a chance to win a championship here. We just can't afford any longer, unless this is a season where we are the NBA Champions or at least the Western Conference Champions, to stick with two guys that have proved to be incapable of adapting their approaches in order to get closer to a championship.

Long story a little shorter and possibly more coherent:

When you look at what the Eagles just did as an example of just how competitive coaching in professional sports is and combine it with the idea that the patience the Jazz showed with Sloan is the absolute maximum amount of patience that should ever be shown. I feel we need to make the finals this season to keep this group together.

That all being said, I doubt we make the finals this season, I would love it if we did but I just don't see it happening. If we don't then it's time for a major overhaul that includes the GM and coaching staff being replaced because of both their lack of success and stubborn unwillingness to change and we will need big player moves to be made by the new regime.

let me tell you a painful truth

blazers are happy being a playoff team, theyre not disappointed if they lose in the 1st round, the only important thing is that they are competitive and that brings fans to the arena, merchandise and shit, they earn money and its what vast majority of the franchises does, cause theres only a couple of true contenders for the chip every season... thats why blazers wont trade cj mccollum and they wont fire terry stotts, were a playoff team and thats the goal!

I wonder what Jody wants? We know Paul wanted to win a championship, I wonder just how motivated she is doing so?

I think this is the first season since LaMarcus left that the Blazers actually have a roster that management expects to not only make the playoffs, but to do some damage there. The WCF team a couple of years ago was simply a case of overachievement in my view. I would expect Stotts to be on the hot seat if the Blazers don't advance at least to the semifinals.

I don't buy it. Neil has pretty much turned over the whole roster in the last few years. Obviously they are not happy with losing in the first rounds. Whether you like CJ or not, he is still considered by many to be our 2nd best player. (Nurk needs to stay healthy first before he can be in that debate) Not trading your 2nd best player makes sense to me unless there is a clear upgrade with trade. And whether or not you think Neil fucked up by not trading CJ has nothing to do with merchandising money.

They clearly do not believe in blowing things up and I agree with that philosophy for reasons that have been beaten to death in the last 10 years in this forum.

As for Terry, if the Blazers went into a tailspin and he lost the locker room, he would be fired. I also think he will be let go after this year if they lose in the first round with a full complement of players.

There is some great idea from small european Blazers forum. What if Terry takes one week off? Let's say, 4 games without Terry. Then we see who is who in this game.

Knowing what Paul left her I'd say she's got billions in incentive to honor Paul's wishes....I believe he left a blueprint for her...Paul was that sort of guy

I got your back Terry! Coach rocks! We're lucky to have him and I hope he retires here with a ring in the Dame era....we're getting closer to looking like contenders

Imagine we change system and start to move ball like crazy and we go 2016 GS mode. But hey, let's play ISO hero ball, so we look like contenders from time to time. You will never know:)
