Nash is in for it just like when he signed with the Lakers and they had the Howard fiasco.

Yeah, I don't know why people are all up in arms about this being a bad deal. That was a heck of a package.

Thinking about it again, this trio may result in the Nets drawing the most fouls in NBA history.

OKC/NOP/HOU will own pretty much every draft pick of significance over the next few seasons.

Not that I would consider it, but this kind of makes me wonder what kind of godfather package we could get if we traded Dame.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
That's one way to put it. The other way to put it is that they gave up three picks. The pick swaps will only come back to bite them if disaster strikes. Which it could, certainly, but that isn't the way to bet IMO.

I think the haul from Houston's end is pretty weak. Four likely non-premium picks (one from Milwaukee in the Allen deal) and an expiring deal in Oladipo (knowing Fertitta, he likely won't extend him to get the maximum savings).

Even if they re-sign Oladipo, he's a borderline star nearing the end of his peak years and won't be cheap. Not exactly a great rebuild chip.

All in all, not a great return on one of the best players in the NBA and one of the best offensive players in NBA history, still in his prime.

You're right. Maybe they shoulda kept Allen and LeVert instead.

Is where Harden wanted to go.

Dame’s at least doing a hellova job recruiting. Neil OTOH....

VO is 28 and end of his peak years while Harden is 31 and still in his prime? What kind of standard or metric are you using?

VO had a major injury a couple season ago and might still be recovering but I think his physical prime years are still ahead of him.

    Peak versus prime.

Estimates vary, but I've usually considered a player's peak years to be around 24-28 and their prime to extend into their early 30s. My point with Oladipo is that he's not really "young," not likely to improve and his best years may be behind him (in fact, I think that's likely). I don't think he's into the decline phase of his career, obviously.

Similarly, Harden is not into the decline phase of his career either, which is important in assessing this trade. This isn't Kevin Garnett when he left Boston.

I think they should have. I liked the deal more before they spun those two players off. But most likely, the idea was to save as much money as possible.

I could totally see Olshey going after Draymond. With Harden, it was wishful thinking, at least on my part, but Draymond, I could actually see it. And if golden state gets to the point of putting him on the block, it probably wouldn’t take his prized baby boy CJ

Why would the Warriors do it though? That's the problem. I don't think he's asking for a trade. I don't think they're trading Draymond unless Curry goes.

Was Lavert a better option than the salary flexibility of not resigning Oladipo?
