I am only going from after Jimmy Carter. If we go before Carter, there were plenty of problems. But, Ronald Reagan put America on the path, that it is currently still on, and Trump is the culmination of 40 years of our two-party corruption.

I could point out the corrupt corporate buybacks that Ronald Reagan brought back during his administration. Corporations use them like candy nowadays to "reward" their shareholders. Ronald Reagan started many policies that are still going on to this day, right through two "democrat" presidents. The democrats are fine with it, since they haven't changed America's path. But you can't point out real things to "people with a belief".

If people could talk real, rather than always from a partisan position, people might see how little their party truly cares. But, people can't see from the proper perspective, is my only guess. If we could take away the (D) and (R), than maybe we could end "Team Politics" in America, and fight for America rather than... a team and their agenda.

We live in a sick society, right in front of our eyes. And we have all been conditioned to accept it. If we can't see how sick our society is, and that our government isn't doing anything about it... because they literally don't care. How can any of us possibly claim that we see what is going on in the first place?!?

I worked during a war for Nixon's propoganda machine ...I think I have some perspective on govt corruption and am qualified to talk about it without being clueless about corruption in politics...my view is that since Carter we've had both a black president and black female vice president....something that would never have happened before Carter..in my lifetime that's some major political progress

Everyone has their own news sources nowadays. Corporate media news (CNN, MSNBC and Fox) all teach you to hate other peoples viewpoints. So everyone is intolerant of other peoples positions.

I am going to argue that your definition of traitor is different than most. What you call a traitor, I would call a flawed human being, which frankly, is every human being. It is just a measure of how flawed they are.

And yet we still don't see it, from the proper perspective. Most Americans don't see it, at all. We have all been taught wrong perspectives, all of our lives.

America is a lie right in front of our eyes, and both parties are fine with it.

America's biggest lie. America fights for freedom and democracy. Bullshit, America fights for corporations and it's own self interests (And we all know it). And if people can't follow that line of thinking. Follow this: America is the #1 leading seller of weapons around the world. If you are truly fighting for peace, selling weapons to other countries to fight their wars, or any reason should never be on the table. Until people can wake up to America's lies, and that neither party works to correct the problems. They will never see past their own party line.

I woke up to the only factor that matters. The life on this planet (the only planet in the universe with life, far as we know to this point). And now, I literally don't care about either party. I don't care about country, or any monetary value. The human equation is all that matters. If your party isn't working for all Americans and the rest of the humans/life on this planet... they don't care (that might be my severe black and white thinking, but that is the way I see things now).

America has some of the highest rates of homelessness than most any other industrialized nation. The richest country in history, has homeless Americans. Most people wouldn't throw their animals out in the cold, yet we have all been conditioned to accept that America can do nothing about our humans that we consign to living on it's sidewalks?

If we can't see that this is wrong. I think that we have all been blind (just my opinion). :baby:

It's not that cut and dried my friend....not everyone is taught their logic or belief system by the mainstream media....certain impressionable personality types are but there are still plenty of people who are smart and draw their own conclusions about filtering the news and keeping it in perspective. I used to argue with Denny here about independent thought and cut and paste arguments....one uses media as an argument...the other uses their own brain and weighs the information around the topic. Creative thinking is a dying concept with the hyper info sharing internet these days....I recommend step one to most people....shut off the tv...the internet I can filter and control....I choose my content...tv just blares at you until you hit the mute button

Lindsay Graham is a big part of the GOP's problem....he can't stop shifting his position to appease his voters. No convictions. Just ping pong politics

If your argument is that one party uses their own brains while the other party doesn't, that is an obvious fallacy.

If not, you'll have to explain.

It wasn't an argument about partisan politics..Denny and I voted for the same candidate...it was about topics of controversy and how we discuss them....cutting and pasting to make a point is in fact letting the media make a point...forming your own opinion and stating it is a different tactic....doesn't matter what party you register with....that's not the point I make...I agree with you that the media can attract mob mentality and many people are shallow and uninformed ...my point is that intelligent people use filters when it comes to media marketing whether political or choosing to consume anything....media can help a cause, it can also hurt one but we need not be victimized over it

    Ah I see.

I wish I could agree. The problem is, we all use filters depending on our party affiliation. That affiliation helps most people to override their normal logic filters, and end up with a conclusion that matches their parties beliefs. In my opinion, once you "buy the team", you defend it. A persons political/religious/social/etc. bias is a filter most people can't get past.

Hey, I'm older than you and all I can remember of McCarthy is he was in the news often and when he was he was speaking into a microphone. I was way too young to understand what he was all about. I mean Edward R. Murrow was a news moderator for crying out loud and then Douglas Edwards. You can't tell me you recall anything from the Korean War. Good grief, I was still playing cowboys and Indians with my cap gun.

All I remember of my cap gun was a high misfire rate. Very disappointing to shoot someone and have them not even hear it.

History is written my friend....I remember black and white tv...we only watched a few times a week and it was usually the news...my dad and all my relatives were big cold war advocates for anti commie propoganda and very comfortable with all that white privilege....the times change but the cameras record alot of stuff along the way. I remember the McCarthy era...Soupy Sales...Groucho Marx ..and Mickey Mantle....imagine that...I watched the yankees with my dad in the late 50s...still can name the team even though I was 6 years old at the time.

The Sears catalog was the consumer side of the internet back then. I bet she just grabbed something from the corner store. Mothers just don't understand the value of a properly researched cap gun.
