Anyone own one? I’m currently investigating and deliberating. Looking at the Model 3 Long Distance. Overall thoughts? What kind of charger do you own? Thoughts? Installation cost? Performance - Take always? Just anything you’d share as an owner to a prospective buyer.
My cousin owns one, a Model 3. Loved it so much, he bought another for his wife. They LOVE those cars. I was in it, unlike any other car ever. Incredible performance and looks. I personally would not want one because it's a giant screen inside and I spend my days in front of screens already. But they are special cars.
In laws have one, love it. Excellent car. Thought about one, but wife likes shorter cars for ease of parking. In addition they no longer have federal rebate, so more expensive than some other electric cars with similar range. If you do not mind the size - a much better option than the near luxury audi, bmw or benz that are currently available
I was at Costco getting some tires and a guy was buying snow tires for his new Tesla. I asked him what he paid for it and he replied a surprising $65,000.00. I slapped my know sloping forehead when I realized I could have bought a Tesla for $15,000.00 less than I paid for my Volvo. I think you can now get a Tesla with about 300 miles of range.
Not here in a way that makes sense given the way that our house is built on a steep hill. As I said, In Laws have one. We know them quite well and they are a great car - but wife clearly wanted a shorter car - and given the difference in price (because the Tesla no longer has the Federal rebate) and the length - she is a lot happier with her Kona (similar range). (The Model Y starts at $49,900, after CA rebates it is $46,500) - she wanted the higher seating position. Between Federal, CA and dealer rebates, she got the Kona for much much less. The Model 3 with similar range (the Y is just a raised 3, for all practical purposes)
We're standing outside his house and my cousin clicked a button on his keychain - both garage doors opened and both Teslas silently came forward and stopped in front of us. Very cool!
Bump. Wifey wants an electric car now. I liked the lexus NX plug in hybrid. She wants all electric I guess. Awesome interior. Tesla interior seemed too minimal. The big advantage is the supercharger network Been Watchingg youtube vids of the Kia Ev6, but hearing big markups right now.
We went into a kia dealership a while back. Slimy ass sales people. It's such an outdated way to buy, Tesla seems good. No rush to buy though, both our cars are fine. Tesla would be good for road trips, but we prefer flying to be honest. We don't have long commutes but like going to OC and San Diego on weekends.
Takes a special connector. You'll pay a pretty penny getting that installed. You'll also have to go to special places to get your car charged.
I agree with him. We just need to make sure the incentives and infrastructure are there. Let's get on it.
You don't have to spend $65k on an electric car. A brand new Nissan Leaf starts at $27k. You can get them used for under $10k.
I hear you. But then they'll be spending more than $10k on a car anyway. You can get a similar electric car for a similar price. Especially if we get the incentives right. So again, I say to Pete, talk is cheap. Let's get on the incentives and infrastructure and make it happen.
